i first saw this film years ago when I was little. I didn't think much of it and it wasn't scary like people said it was. But I recently saw this film again and have come to the conclusion it is one of the best films I've ever seen. For some reason it scared me more than when I was little, despite the fact the sharks starting to loose its "realism" But its mainly the bits where the shark cant be seen that have you in suspense. And that music! Fantastic. It was composed by John Williams, who Id say is the best out there. This film is great. I hear the sequels arent that crash hot though. I know that Spielberg didnt direct them but I guess Id have to see them. Great film.

Actually, no, I wouldn't recommend seeing the sequels. If you must see one of them, see Jaws 2, but AVOID 3 AND 4 AT ALL COSTS. Sadly, Jaws is yet another casualty of the notorious "sequel slide", a tragic phenomeneon deriving from the noticeable lack of Hollywood's originality. The Alien quadrilogy has fallen victim to it, the Home Alone trilogy has fallen victim to it, the Friday trilogy has fallen victim to it, and the Jurassic Park trilogy (soon to be quadrilogy...uggh) has fallen victim to it. (If I'm forgetting any, you guys let me know.) But, I agree, Jaws is an excellent film, it's just a shame it had to be taken down by the sequel slide. Damn you, Hollywood!

i enjoy the alien sequels. of course they can't hold up to the original, but i think all of them, even ressurection, have something that adds on to the story, rather than detracts.
that does not apply with the jaws series. do not see those sequels. they are activly horrible movies, and will take away from the enjoyment of the first movie.

Jurassic Park 2: The Lost World I think is a pretty fun and good movie. There was actually a plot. Whereas number 3 sucked cause it was basically dinosaurs chasing people.....which got boring.
Im intrested in Jurrassic Park 4 because speilberg is taking back over the project... he has something to prove I think he wants to make up for how CRAPPY the 3rd one was! But not all sequals are bad, I mean BAD BOYS 2 is like 100 times better then its predecesor. And Terminator 2 was also sweet... although i never saw three.
------------------ When you throw that first crappy film you make to the floor, be sure to use it to stand on and to reach a higher level for the next project... even if you make a dozen crappy films each time you move up one step and eventually you will get it right!
Jurassic Park one and two are classics. The third one is clearly not as good, but I wouldn't say it sucked. The fourth (from what I read) sounds real good. Spielberg is back and says there is a lot of excitement about it at the moment, and that is has a really good plot. Indiana Jones 4 wll be cool too, despite the fact Harrison Ford will be...old. I dont know why everyone always says that seqels suck becuase there really is alot of good ones out there. Isn't Michael Caine in one of the Jaws sequels?

Uh, don't you mean the last three? And I could care less about any more Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones sequels, because I guarantee I won't be seeing 'em.

I'm interested in watching an Indiana Jones 4. I used to love watching the Young Indiana Jones series too. I think maybe some of you guys are putting too much pressure on what # a film is instead of how good a story can potentially be.
Granted there are many, MANY bad se(tre(quiduels). Rambo III, Rocky V, Phantom Menace-Clones but the fact is that most people (The Masses) will go and watch them, including myself, just because if you enjoyed any number of the previous films you STILL want more. And that's what the filmmakers and especially the studio banks on $$$$. I COUNT on the film not being as good as the original, BUT once in a long while that awesome sequel...comes along and rips up the place or is at the very least is almost as good: Godfather II, T2,Good Bad Ugly, Lotr II, etc.
My one question though is how are they going to make Harrison Ford look young? He drank from the Holy Grail so he shouldn't have aged at all. Right?
