Hey everyone, my life is leaning more and more to the film making way of life. After all, movie maker is not a name, it is a life style.

So I was wondering if anyone has good books to read in these categories:

Terms and Lingo

Definitons of all the participants in moviemaking(gaffer, DP, assistant Director).

General suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

"Oh . . .uh . . .nothin"

"Digital Filmmaking 101" by Newton and Gaspard,
These guys are the king of cheap, effective moviemaking. I bought this book along with my original batch of movie making literature, and haven't put it down since. These guys literally cover EVERYTHING, and help you find the cheapest way of pulling it off!
"Rebel Without a Crew" by Robert Rodriquez
If you haven't read this book, then drop everything and get it now. This book always is good for me when I'm down about a project and need a pick me up. If you aren't going to read this, you should consider putting down that camera and finding another profession.

mmmm.. Story.... ya brought up a sore point with me Machine.. that book i'll tell ya..

Seriously tho, It's a decent enough read, but I can't stand McKee himself. He takes a very condescending view to like, everything, and he's like, such a bastard. Sure I own it, and time to time I look at it, but I try to avoid it...

Nah...STORY is great. You just have to go through it and highlight stuff. 75% was filler for me. But that 25% is GOLD.

"Story" is great for serious writers. He has the right to have an ego, just look at his list on the back of the book or his website; and his seminars...OMG its so great, I have to go to another when it comes back to NYC.
