Might I suggest your local film commission. Noty only should they have access to several different resources where you might find actors, but also list of experinced crew in your area.
Aside from that hit your local College drama departments for actors. Selecting the right actor for the job is essential and shouldnt be rushed. Take your time and do it right. Its just like the old carpentry addage goes... Measure twice, cut once. Good luck and keep us posted. R. Michael

i'm 19, i've been writing the script for 2 and a half years...and i have tried to get a cast and crew together many times. I will definitely need people who can act and also help out. so if you can get a picture of yourself to me so i can tell you if i have a part for you. thanks.
You are giving no incentive for anyone to help you out. Why should anyone help you out? Especially if you are not willing to tell anyone anything about what you are doing. And that you don't care about how it gets done because you want to start IMMEDIATELY! Why the hell do you want to rush into a film like that. Especially one that you have been writing supposedly for 2 and a half years. You have taken your time then, why not take it now. If you rush your film, it will turn out to be a big piece of sh*t.
You can't just start filming. If you want to make your film any good at all, like Tizzy said try talking to the Film Commission or some local theatres or schools for actors. Then you have professional actors. AND THAT WILL MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE in the quality of your film, as well as how serious people will take it. Also if you do get real actors, that means you will have to make a schedule for them. You will have to coordinate everything out. You will have to secure locations. Get permits. Assemble a crew. Create a flexible schedule where everyone can film and agrees. You obviously have not thought any of this through, and therefor do not deserve to make a film. Do yourself a favor and don't screw up your film because your are so overly ambitious that you do not think about what you should actually be doing. If you start that sh*t now, all you are doing is digging yourself a deep hole. For all of you willing to help this guy out in NJ, I would suggest you ask him some questions first. I dunno about you guys, but I wouldn't be willing to make a film that is half-a$$ed because he doesn't think the whole filmmaking process through.
You should probably read some books. Anything. Do research on something. You can't just jump right in. It doesn't work that way.
Oh yeah. Its a coming of age story. Thats awesome. That tells us all a whole lot. Look if you want people to help you, you should at least give us the courtesy to be of service to you. Otherwise, stay off this site and stop begging for help.

Jesus, that's sad. I have been talking in more detail to the people that post here, first of all.
And it seems to me you are the one with the stick up your ass if you like to assume that i am rushing this, which i have not, i have storyboarded, contacting local theaters, put up fliers, anything to get cast.
And like I haven't been reading books? 2 and a half years I have been preparing hard for this, and if you were not so ignorant, you would have seen various old posts i made several months apart to get cast and crew, which didn't work out.
I've been burned by plaigarism in the past and i'm not about to post something i've been working on for 2 and a half years. If you don't like it fine, don't come here calling me names, jesus.
I'm done procrastinating, and want to shoot immediately to get great shots of the beautiful New Jersey fall foliage, so when you ASSUME, you make an ASS out of you and ME.
Well then! I suppose its all good. I suppose I did assume that you just wanted to get started instead of working everything out. I just ranted cause you sounded like you just wanted to start shooting something instead of carefully planning. If you have, my mistake. If you have not, it won't be a fun experience and you will get extremely frustrated.
Anyway, enough of that. Does your whole film take place in the fall? Because if it does you will need to shoot extremely quickly. They usually paint leaves for fall settings in films. In that case it would be Urgent now wouldn't it? That was a cute joke you put in the end by the way.
Also if you are looking for actors, this is not the place to look. Have you not seen the films on this site! Most of the actors here are friends of others. There are plenty of acting schools in Northern Jersey, especially when you get closer to NYC. My sister was in one for a long time, it was in Hackensack. You might want to try looking there. Look in the phonebook for some of them. Also Im not sure about in Jersey, but in Atlanta, there is a a website called IMAGE that alot of Atlanta Filmmakers make posts on just about everything. From actors to crewmembers. See if there is a place like that in Jersey.
So maybe that is why you havent been successful here...

If you can send me a picture of yourself so i can tell you if i have a part for you. If you don't act, i have plenty of small and no-word parts too.
yea imperial I know you are trying to help out, you SHOULD scare people underprepared to shoot features of all things, and yea, you probably are right, i should try harder looking for real actors. Thanks a lot man, i will try harder looking for real actors.
But the main character is me, i thank god i don't have to cast that part. I have 3 other large parts that are my main concern right now.
