Hello all,
I am an young filmmaker, screenwriter and "sometimes" dancer who is casting for an upcoming film project this summer. I need to start casting now since the project requires a great deal of Indian Classical/Bollywood dancing. There will be dance rehearsal auditions in the next two to three months.

So...Here's the story...It's called "Ode"
Through a long, musical-like dream, a young man of Nigerian/African descent realizes that is still in love with ex-girlfriend whom he breaks up with because she becomes totally obsessed with Bollywood films and Indian culture. The film explores the trials, tribulations, and strength of "Black Love" through a very unique film industry.

So I need...
A handsome, confident, Black young man (between the ages of 21 to 25) who is a great dresser and quite tall. Though he will have very few lines, he must be EXTREMELY self expressive and can "act" with his face brilliantly with little direction.

A young, Black woman (age 18-24) A professional dancer or (someone who can pick up dance moves in a second) to play the lead. She must be confident and lively. She must also be able to act with her face as well.

Three South Asian women who are familiar with the main schools of Classical Indian (Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Odissi) and Bollywood dance to be "back up" dancers. One of the dancers does not have to be South Asian, but she must have to pick up dance moves quickly.

A Choreographer who is well versed in Indian dance to help me choreograph the dances for the film. I would like to have someone by early May the latest, since we will be working together frequently, especially on the weekends. The choreographer can be one of the back-up dancers as well.

Filming will be in Washington DC starting in mid to late August 2008. Shooting will be a total of 4 days (2 consecutive weekends)

There will be no pay, but I promise my crew: a copy of the film, lunch, random crazy jokes, good times, politenesses, and most importantly a resume builder for anyone who wants to make it Hollywood some day.
