Note for readers: Since I have no means of getting this filmed myself in the next 5 years, I'm offering this to you guys first. (I have no directing or camera experience, no funds, no actors, no nothing.)

After finishing *outlining* my script for my thriller/horror project last night - I'm still not sure which of the possible 6 titles fits best - I'm looking for collaboration with the people listed below to bring my vision to the screen.

I need to talk to them to know the limitations they will have in filming so I can write and polish the script accordingly.

Crew needed:
- director
- producer
- composer
- someone skilled in computer effects.

It's the story of a boy who's greatest fear comes true. Something is really living under his bed! (more information available on request)

Tag line: Who said a kids imagination is harmless?

Director/producer:
I'd like this person to excel at cinematography. I'd also like him/her to be able to direct kids, since at least one in the age of 7 to 11 is at the heart of the story. They'd be responsible for the casting of great actors (not just family) and telling me what my limitations are when the cast and shots are concerned. I'd also like them to tell me if they prefer to get a spec or shooting script from me. They would work on the story with me during polishing.

Composer:
The atmosphere of the story needs music that sets the mood and builts tension like the music in "X-files", "24" and - let's name an on-site example - "Forlorn". To make sure no legal issues arise over this project I'd prefer original music.

Computer effects:
To let the story come to its right best I'd like to have some computer generated special effects. I have no idea how hard the effect needed really is. But anyone who's interested in trying is welcome to apply. (Maybe the Lupher Brothers want to hone their skills?)

Since I'm not making any money out of this, I can't pay anyone and I don't expect any money from you either. I'm just offering a script for filming, just hoping the people involved will find out how I want to see it on screen.

If possible I'd like to see a DVD or VHS with the finished product and some outtakes or stuff come my way, but that can be negotiated.

Everyone who will end up working on this will, of course, be credited.

Anyone interested in taking on this project can reply and ask further details. I want to know your skills (directing, composing or whatever you do.)

Awaiting your replies,

Stijn Hommes

P.S. I'm living The Netherlands, so my contact with the crew will go via the internet in email.

I like the tagline. It is catchy. I would consider myself a skilled director that emphasizes on cinematography. However, your story doesn't intrest me to direct it. E-mail me if you want to go into more depth. I would however score the film for you. Cause thats fun to do. The Lost Soldiers (my film) has an my original score in it if you want to check it out. You can email me if you want to hear more. If you find any other people let me know how its workin out.

I wish more people like you would do this kind of stuff on here. Makes it feel more like a community here. People helping others out is a great thing. Especially if its to make a movie.

Sounds like an interesting "distributed" project. I'd be up for contributing original music. I'm a composer specializing in orchestral/ambient electronica music with credits including a student film out in San Diego (additional music), two independent computer games in development, and some music for a local musical production.

You can hear some of my older samples at http://www.mp3.com/arya. Sorry, I haven't yet had time to build a webpage with my more recent samples, but should you want them, I can can mail them to you.

I'll keep an eye out for possible directors for this project should you be interested. Any geographic constraints??

Thanks

-Arya

I'd like to thank you all for responding to this.
Sorry for the late reply, but as usual computers start to have glitches when I want to check out scores. And my work is keeping me occupied.

I'll write the synopsis for the film ASAP and send it round. Anyone willing to loop for directors in very welcome.

I'll keep you all posted.

___

To Arya: Since I couldn't find your email address, my intended email is below.

Dear Arya,

Thanks for your response regarding my thriller/horror project on studentfilms.com.

The samples I checked from mp3.com set a great mood and atmosphere. I'd like to see your music in action in the San Diego student film. If it's online anywhere, please point me to it. Also any more recent samples that you think could possibly fit a thriller/horror production are very welcome in the mail. (Just not all at once. My inbox is kinda limited in size.) One question: would you be willing to work together with another composer on this?

As for directors: Yes, I'd love for you to keep an eye out for them. There aren't really any geographical constraints. They should be willing to work with some of the crew (composer and CGI people) over long distances via email and internet. And naturally, they should live close to cast and lighting and camerapeople. The most important thing is that they can direct a young child. (the things I mentioned in my original post.)

I'll mail you if there's anything new. And I'll await your response if you can find some possible directors.

Sincerely,

Stijn Hommes.

Hi Stijn,

Thanks for the response and sorry for not leaving my email address. Before I forget to give it to you again, here it is arya@cwru.edu

About the music to the student film, I'm afraid I don't have my hands on a copy yet. I was promised a DVD of the movie once it was completed - I'll have to follow up with them. The movie was titled Refraction. For now I only have the music that I composed from the script. They did not send me edited footage to sync with the music. I wrote three tracks actually. One for a wedding ring, a powerful motif in the movie. The second for a cuddling type scene between two good friends. The third was a closing credits suite of the two themes. Let me know if you would like to hear samples though, I can send them to you along with the scripted scenes.

I would not mind collaborating with another composer if that would make the project better. Keep in mind though, the composers would have to have a good idea of how to bridge themes so the music flows and is not an abrupt change (see 'Last of the Mohicans' score for details).

I'll keep my eyes peeled for people who could help out.

It might be interesting to start an email list for those interested once the project gets going.

Thanks again.

-Arya

Hello,

Just a quick note:

With Zoomba being the third to apply as composer, I'm confident that job will be fulfilled. Please no more composers, unless you also have experience in other fields.

I'm looking for a director especially...

Any ideas and suggestions for potential crew are welcome.

Sincerely,

Stijn Hommes

Note to anyone interested,

I've send a message to maxforums.org to get some experienced people to give their view on possible special effects in the film.

I've also send a question along to the Lupher Brothers who will probably have some valuable experience from "Fixed".

I'm waiting for their replies as we speak.

I also want to tell you that I've set up a yahoogroup called 'globalstudentfilm' as a place to gather crew and keep them posted on the progress of the project.

Hope you have a beautiful day/night.

Hey i'd be more than willing to help out in the post-productions process, editing of the finals product. Although I'd need more details and further information.

I have knowledge and understanding of Adobe Premeiere 6.5 and AlamDV2 also have knowledge and understanding of blue screen.

My most enjoyable part of film making is post-productions as well as cinematorgraphy. Wish you luck and hope this all works out for you and let me know if you need me. awooday@hotmail.com

I am one of many that would like to score a film for the experience alone. I will allow some of my music to speak for itself.

Um, while use of the search function is encouraged, this post is 5 years old. You don't have to dig that much!
