Hi Peeps. I am in desperate need for solid ideas I can act upon, in the making of 30 second comedies. They can be advertisments, skits or extremly short narratives.

The topics are Dating, Christmas, Room-Mates, Cars, Money, SPorts and Diets.

I would appreciate any ideas for quirky comedies that go for 30 seconds.

DIX cream, the ultimate hair rejuvinator for balding men.

"I was losing it! Me and my brother both, We couldn't even go outside without being embarassed by our hairless heads"

Then the brothers discovered dix!

"We couldn't believe how great it felt rubbing dix on our forhead... I immediatly began growing!"

'WE LOVE DIX'

Ok that was a crappy lil example but if you really think about it DIX cream has some fun possibilities... I made the video in highschool and damn near got suspended for it but it got a laugh thats for sure

So do you have any other ideas? I really like your style of thinking. It's exactly wha I am looking for.

lol yeah like I said depending on how you do it it could end up really cheesy but if you spend some time and think about dialouge it will be funny as hell

I've had a long-developed idea of advertising things that don't need to be advertised or hyping up items that are simple and have no real value.

"NEW...from the makers of dirt, it's SAND!"

"SAND is the new FUN in the backyard! Make SANDCITIES(TM) with the SANDCITY FORMULATOR(TM)!"

(show a simple plastic sandcastle mold)

We had other ideas...

"From the makers of SAND(TM) and ROCKS(TM)...SOCKS!"

I'm sort of distressed about how comedy has gone down the toilet lately--I'd steer away from juvenile phallic references or the like because that severely limits your audience and makes you look twelve. Which might be good, because if your video has high production value you might initially impress a few people who think twelve year-olds made it.

What about doing a 30 second commercial for a dating site... It starts off with a car pulling up to a house... A guy gets out with flowers and candy and rings the door bell... All of a sudden a tranny answers the door with a manly voice... It cuts to them going on the most horrible date humanly possible... Then you talk about the dating site for 10-15 seconds... CUT BACK TO guy dropping tranny off at home after the date and the tranny asking for a kiss and you see a halarious expression on the guy

I don't understand how that would be a good ad for a dating site... It's funny, but there's no message.

Hmmm, not quite what I am looking for. Although the post is old, I am still looking for 30 second skits tomake fi anyone has any ideas.

All these ideas are too easy. DIX cream wouldn't be funny because it's incredibly easy and sophmoric (sorry for the pompous sounding term). The only way it would be funny is if it was done in tongue in cheek way, in other words, the people in the commercial begin to use it so much the viewer isn't sure if they're actually talking about the cream with the funny name or their penises. But even that's tricky.

If you could pull it off, do a spoof of a local used car lot. If you've ever seen a local used car dealer commercial, their usually unbelievably corny, and it would be easy since their commercials are low grade anyway. Doing the commercial in a dead serious tone, but having a ridiculous premise would be very mockumentary-esque and probably work pretty well.

Just would be hard to get something resembling a car lot. Tough location I suppose.

haha i was just thinking the same thing
