I just wanted to post a listing for anyone on the east coast ever looking for a steadicam op. I'm a New York Based operator looking to build my client list and can travel anywhere your production may be.
I have a full steadicam package that can fly anything from a dv camera to a decked out 35mm. I'm also an owner of the Handsfree Transporter. I can workout a far rate for your production. Check out my website
I've spoken to a few of you guys through the site. But I still wanted to let everyone out there know that I am still around and always looking to work on new projects.
So is your job as a person who's expertise is operating a steadicam? Cool.
But.. are steadicams very complex to operate? are you earning a good profit as a steadicam operator? How did you become a steadicam Op? (from adolcent to now) why?
It'd be very good if you shared your expeierences! =)
Yes I am a working steadicam operator. I'm in my first year of operating and am always looking for new clients and projects to help build my reel.
I went to film school and finished a few years ago. I worked as a Key Grip and Gaffer for awhile. Wanted to get into Steadicam for awhile. I went through the training and practise.
It does take alot of practise to get good at operating. It is also a very expensive kit to build.
I love the moving camera and Steadicam is great because I'm my own boss and have alot of input on how shots can work.
