You might as well say this film has no paid positions. $20 per day for a cinematographer?? And he doesn't need any experience...whaaaaaaa. None of these people need any experience???

This sounds really fishy to me, I can see some of these positions being filled for free, or for the $10 - $20 per day rate..."That's like a dollar an hour". But there are some positions you won't be able to fill without proper wages, really.

If none of these people have experience, you're in for the ride of your life, better put on a seatbelt.

I think it's great that you're trying to pay the crew. But I also want to remind you that you should be spending ~20 dollars per person per day on craft service/catering. And if you can only offer $10-20 per day, you might consider instead putting that money into travel reimbursement (gas) and more/better craft service and catering. It is really amazing how well a crew responds when you go above and beyond in that department.

I'd rather be fed and work for free on a no-budget movie. I always give out points, so if the film makes any money, everyone gets paid. However, I always have Pizza, soda, etc. on hand so that everyone is fed and happy.

Yeah, I'd have to agree that your money could be better spent. Unless you were planning on buying pizza and soda AND paying all your crew, which would probably put you upwards of $250, then I'd just spend money on catering for the cast and crew, as well as promising them all a free copy of the DVD.
I mean, do you really need to pay a still photogropher $10? You could get your little brother to do that job.

This is just a way for new crew members to learn a job position in filmmaking and earn a little bit of money. I don't care if they have had expereience or not. They learn, earn money, meet people, and have fun. Catering and other extras are already provided. They would get a copy of the film and a credit in the movie anyway. And no, a little brother cannot do that job. I need someone who wants to learn how to take professional stills that could be used for posters and placement shots.

Paying $10-20 a day is worse than paying nothing. If you live in a reasonably populated areas you can probably get actual "professionals" (not saying they are necessarily great) to work for no pay/deferred. When you start paying a little money people will inevitably want more, and also view it as a paying gig. Which is presumably not what you want.

I don't pay anyone on my productions. I do sometimes provide food, and always drinks.

You need to minimize your crew. Get a DP, a grip or two, a soundman to hold the boom, and you're set. You shouldn't need a "Unit Production Manager," a script supervisor, or an AD on a cheapie, quick DV shoot. Know the material well enough so it isn't necessary.
