I totally give up on trying to recommend movies to my mother. I keep trying to introduce her to really, really good movies, but she can't even begin to understand why they're so good. I can understand differing opinions, but she doesn't even give them over a half-hour.

By the way, the movie this time was Punch-Drunk Love, which went over worse than Pulp Fiction and Fight Club.

Whats not to love about Punch Drunk Love? That's a great movie! If you get over the phone sex scene, anybody can appreciate that movie.

Yeah, a great movie, but definately aimed at a younger audience.

On a similar note, I made my parents watch Miller's Crossing and they HATED it! Then they watched Raising Arizona and my mother hated it but my dad loved it... so i'm reticent about letting them see The Big Lebowski.

Wow, that's weird because Big Lebowski was gonna be the next one I was going to recommend. I figured it was a more "accessible" comedy, but she'd probably hate it the same.

By the way, when Jeff Bridges runs over to the phone to see what Jackie Treehorn was drawing on the notepad is one of the most random and hilarious moments in movie history. I still laugh my ass off every time I see his reaction.

Yeah, I stopped trying after my parents hated Good Will Hunting. They couldnt get past the language (Though my mom is an ubber horror fan) Punch Drunk Love I can understand. Though I dont know why people dont get it, they dont. I saw it in the theater. 30 minutes in about 20+ people walked out, some spouting obscenities at the screen. It was all that opening imagery. They need everything handed to them on a silver platter. All pretty with a bow.. "Heres your plot" Lets just throw reality out the window. Reality is the random, and bizzare events in our lives that can change ourselves and the world around us. So is Punch Drunk Love. Im just glad my wife not only got it, but really enjoyed it for the sweet, and real love story it had within (although she didnt much care for "Your so cute I just wanna rip your F***ing face off, and smash it with a hammer.") I gave up, now its all, "Mom and Dad, rent Black Hawk Down, and chase it with the ever classic Sheen-a-palooza Navy Seals. Whatever you do, stay away from Narc." So is life, so is art.

I have some mormon friends and I was under the impression that mormons couldn't watch R-rated movies.

most arn't allowed to do anything, like dating until your sixteen is one of them.

My friend isn't a hardcore mormom...but dude...I've been around hardcore ones...and all they talk about is Super Smash Brothers...thats their life, video games.

And they arn't supposed to watch TV or do anything on Sundays (this messed up one of our shooting schedules so we killed his character off)

Kirby rocks the game, but I tell ya, nothing beats Mario Kart.

Also, I know a lot of Mormons, and I used to think it was a freaky cult or something, but really, after finding out about it more, I realised it's no more strange than any other religion, just misunderstood.

Oh man, open challenge to anyone at Mario Kart too. That's SNES, 64, or Super Circuit. Yes, I'm a huge video game nerd.

While we're on the topic, is there anyone here that plays Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2? I'd love to play someone online.

Young Link all the way!
