I don't normally do this at all, but this is a plea from me to everyone. I have just seen a student film that I think is better than most Hollywood films, because I think it is absolutley brilliant. It is called "Please Play This on TV" and it doesn't have much mass appeal, and it certainly isn't for everyone, but I think everyone should see this film and think about it for a little while afterwards.
Dragging the lake was much better, but I agree that the lighting and acting were great, i just didnt like the script that much it seemed pointless to me.
The only right way to tell a story is the way the director see's it... there is never a wrong way
Well, I don't know about you guys, but I just thought it was a very intelligent, haunting film. The thoughts it opened in my mind were vast. I love how the film remains impartial, so it's up to you to decide whether this man is merely a raving skitzo or one of the rare people who know life's truth. Should this man be pitied, or should he be listened to? Is this film a harsh criticism of society, or an embracment of it? This film could work either way, which is the main reason why I think this film is so brilliant that most people may not see. And completley disregarding that, this film is also very well-made. The cinematography was dark, moody and poetic. The acting was incredible, bursting with quiet fury and desperation. And the screenplay could not be better written. In short, this is why I think this is one of the most brave, intelligent shorts I've ever seen that I think deserves a lot more praise than it's getting.

I mean more praise than it's getting right now on this board. But this is just my opinion, maybe I am overanalyzing it a little...I just think that as many people as possible deserve to see this and form their own opinion. It's unfair sometimes how great films get somewhat ignored...I just saw Matchstick Men last weekend, one of the best films I've seen in the year, I might add, and now I find out it's underperforming at that box office and losing to yet another action flick we don't need, Once Upon a Time in Mexico. But, luckily, it isn't always like that, and sometimes the best movies out there find their audience, and I think Please Play This on TV deserves to find a big audience.

I watched it after reading the glowing comments from fellow student-filmakers here, and felt very let down and somewhat bewildered as to what others were seeing in this?
I echo the thoughts of some, that this seems quite pointless. And I completely disagree with the comments on the camera work and lighting being exceptional. At least in my opinion, it looked very basic. This one does nothing for me, sorry.
