Just caught the trailer for james Gunn's remake of Dawn of the Dead. Looked above average, but before I incite the wrath of Romero fans out there...I am not saying this is going to be better than the original, but definitely worth a viewing. With all the crap in theaters making money (ie, Underworld, Chainsaw remake, Tuscan Sun) it's good to see a good obscure novelty flick that will reach a mass audience. I know some automatons out there will think the Chainsaw remake was actually good (shuddering chills) but those same people should appreciate the finer main stream cinema has to offer or jump on board the crappy trilogy movie franchise kick that Hollywood is on right now (wouldn't be surprised if I saw the The Rundown getting its own crappy trilogy). Anyway, apple.com has the trailer up and running. Give it a shot.

VING RAHMES IS IN IT!? There cant be anything wrong with Ving Rahmes taking out zombies.
Actually I have some guys i know who played zombies in teh film, and are ubber zombie fans. They said it was looking good from what they saw. R. Michael
"Luck, is when opportunity, meets preperation." "There are 3 sides to every story. Yours, mine, and the truth, and none of us are lying" -Robert Evans Tizzy Entertainment"Redemption" Hi-Def trailer
This looks terrible, cliched, retarded, and dumb already. I mean, that shot of them all standing next to eachother as the news boradcast plays looks terribly set up. The director said, "Lets all have the characters standing next to eachother in a line looking at a TV! Then we TRACK infront of them! WHOA!" Terrible looking shots already.
And did I see Zombies...............runnning 28 Days Later style? Jesus. Someting NEW comes along and they gotta try it themslves....this is like a studentfilm....the kid just saw 28 Days Later and said, "Whoa! RUNNING ZOMBIES!!! I SHOULD DO THAT!!!"
I wasn't exaclty against tihs remake (I never liked the original....waaaaay to long with VEEEERY slow parts.) But now I'm against it......it looks cliched to the death and dumb.
Will it be better than House of the Dead ?( which also took into the "running zombies") YES. But I doubt it'll be MUCH better....better acting probably.

Did anyone see Tom Savini in the trailer? I think it mentioned Tom Savini Los Angeles County Sheriff. Though his name tag said a different name. I am thinking that the reason why the zombies are running, are faster, is because most people today, the younger audience especially are not patient and want something fast. I understand that, but I would have loved to have seen the slower types. Oh, well.
I came here to chew bubble-gum and kick ass...and I'm all outta bubble-gum.

As a horror fan maybe you guys can explain to me how in the world a slow zombie is scary in the slightest. They're really not, I mean for chrissakes you can run away from them. Otherwise, they're dumb slow moving creatures. At least with fast zombies you have the excuse that they're just too fast to run away from.

But its not tradional. I loved the way the "zombies" (I know some of you *cough* Chad* cough* thought they weren't Zombies, but I don't care) in 28 Days Later were. What made the movie so cool and creepy to me wasn't JUST the running infected people........but also the directing style and quality of the film. It looked creepy. Dawn of the Dead DOES NOT look Creepy. To me, most Zombie movies are comedies...the original DAwn of the Dead (Although VEERRRRRRY slow in parts, has some of the funniest scenes on film) Slow zombies are more fun in my eye, they just look retarded. When it comes down to FAST zombies......they are suddenly no longer zombies, but cannibals.
I would've prefered in Dawn Remake the zombies were slow....not only does it look totally like a rip off.....but it's becoming a cliche.....FAST ZOMBIES. Then again one could argue that the SLOW ZOMBIES became a cliche also.
