The trailer for our next feature "Romance Road Killers" is now online at Studentfilms.com
The clip features the trailer and then a sort of montage sequence of the movie. These segments were compiled of test footage shot a few months ago in order for the directors to gain experience and style working together. The actual film is set to begin shooting sometime this fall and we are currently casting. Just send pics and resume to romanceroadkillers@yahoo.com (must live in the Southern California area).
"Romance Road Killers" tells the tale of two kids abused by the very system designed to protect children and then forced into violent acts of survival as the outside world watches in on them and calls them criminals. Here's the link: http://studentfilms.com/film/get.do?id=1111
wow, some mature responses guys, just reminding people you are students. Kyle, what was the point of your response again and taking a picture of one of the directors and posting it? you don't have anything better to go than hunt down a picture on our site? c'mon.

ok, heres something constructive, you already made "so we killed our parents" and a million other exploitation films, it would be nice to see something new, something original, something honest.

your words have inspired me, to question...REVELATION! It took me a few moments to assemble that picture and place it here...the difficult problem was that I have no browser URL bar, so I had to save the page (myspace film page) and then highlight and move it over here. it took me awile to get the picture in the right bar cause I had to select a certain "PASTE" button, usually I press right click on the mouse, but it wasnt working, so I had to go to the bar on the top of the screen, the edit box ya know. I think the purpose of my last message was rather simple to understand. The idea of your film being like an exploding zit...its so tempting to feel it, and press against it, then pinch with your nails. Then that secretion gets all over yaa and it smells bitter (but tasteful) I think this relates heavily to your film cause all the while I watched it I was so distracted I got like 4 of those bastards popped. When a film does such to pull to other interest, I believe it has failed (Especially such degrees as self mutiliation) isnt this what you've done here? Why do you want to kill me? I love you Shane &I love that youre reading this. But yeha, back to my zit, do you catch the relation now between my art and yours? you've scattered visions, all covered in blood, and nothingness, and only adored by yourself? I'd keep such to myself in my head, I believe I can kill zombies at a higher player level than you....WHAT .....WHAT...yeah im on level 9. And my zit is more interesting. Actually no im lying. Im disgusted by my ever continuing degradation into zit picking. now have you found out now the relation? Should you kids still be playing with guns?

Kyle, that's gotta be the...wow...I don't even know, have fun making friends in this business. And you actually took all that time looking up Shane's myspace profile finding and posting a pic?! You're life sounds exciting. Btw I could mention all the great response by critics on our films, but I don't have the time, as I'm sure you've already seen some of the stuff and are well aware that not EVERYBODY hates our stuff. We have haters, of course, but so does everybody that puts their hearts into making films.
As for the comment on us making a million exploitative films...ok...name them. Like always I can name the ones that weren't since you guys always seem to forget them Isolation Love Last Captured The Cleansing Check Yourself Numb Axiom 3 Little Words Little Guy Kick Ass Hallucinations Madness Pinata More Than 15 Azure Azure A Normal Life
oh you get the point. And if you read the synopsis on "RRK" you'll see it's not really an exploitation film. "Romance Road Killers" tells the tale of two kids abused by the very system designed to protect children and then forced into violent acts of survival as the outside world watches in on them and calls them criminals.
But, regardless, thanks for checking it out.

One day, after school, a couple of kids decide to murder their parents. But don't worry - this was not a random act of crime. They had very good reasons for it.

Hmm...didn't even need to open a thesaurus for that one.

Kyle, I didn't know we were trying to get into anybody's lives, I thought I was just posting a link to a trailer that immediately seemed to become, well, something far more different.
As for Kane, you just did exactly what I claimed you guys do. You simply ignored that I posted how many of our films aren't exploitation films (and I didn't even post all of them) and are still trying to prove all our films our alike (even though we have about 15 different filmmakers, many who don't even know each other).
And you're wrong, "RRK" and "So, We Killed" are far different from each other. "So we killed" is more of a satire on the situation and "RRK" the feature, blends the Starkweather case with real issues about foster care and social workers that the filmmakers have experienced and witnessed first hand, and tackles the issue in a much differetn way, let alone deals with many different issues as it has time over the course of the feature.
anyways, if you still want to continue about this go ahead, there's nothing else I really feel is neccesary as I'm sure will just go back and forth.

have you personally experienced the events, the diseases, your characters are going through? Why do I know you're avoiding something, why are you skipping to used cliches of confusion. IS that necessary? And youre message isnt even cared for! I mean making a 7 minute montage of blood and sex is exploitation, I dont care if you hide some sort of meaning to it all...cause obviosuly that is not the purpose of this film, its merely a show of color and glam of sex, murder, and delusion (on the filmmakers's part) but what can we expect? ITs only an alter ego, a fantasy, there's nothign here to relate to, or with the director, except self masturbation rather than speaking about what it really means. its so easy to hide under the popular already present in culture, the violence and sex. But Natural Born Killers I believe put a death stamp on films after dealing with such, mayeb cause it SAID something! There's other stories to tell, and the psychology of these films is far from the realities that can be presented, manipulated, felt, and possibly be disturbed by.
Whats so amazing about blood and gore? Where do YOU fit into this project? Where are you? what real truth here is being hidden, ignored
Why is there so much make up on your face?

ok, Kyle, once again, apparently some people can't read, but I already stated that this particular film, "Romance Road Killers," is based on personal experiences the filmmakers have both witnessed and been through, combined with events from the Starkweather case.
plus, the piece clearly states that the first thing is a trailer (at about 3 1/2 minutes) and the second is a montage (at about 3 minutes). It is not a 7 minute trailer, it's 2 different clips, as it clearly states if you watched it. just edited to different segments of music to establish different tones.
again, if you watched it, you'd see it's not exploitative violence, only one person is shown killed, they just have blood on them. I recall many other shots, like the entire opening of the sheriff, sunset and scenery shots, shots of them fighting with each other, running away, petting animals, showing them on the road moving from place to place, playing a guitar laughing, etc. etc.
now with the "NBK" thing. do you not realize that about 20 films based/inspired by that incident were made before "NBK"?
as far as blood and gore being amazing? I didn't say that. the filmmakers didn't say that. did you not see the other films Emily and Shane have made together? there 4 so far, none dealing with blood or gore Love Last Captured Numb Cleansing Hallucinations
you just keep pointing out stuff that you want to so we have a ridiculous discussion about it. don't you have anything better to do? like go make your own film instead of bash other filmmakers all night? come on man.
as far as where do I fit in, don't you know? you seem to have us figured out every which way, even our myspace pages. well, in case you over looked it I'm the co-founder and promoter for the filmmakers, who gets to put up with people like you. fun huh?
last I don't see how you can thrash a film so bad that you haven't even seen! let alone it hasn't even been shot yet! this whole discusiion is over a trailer that was shot in order for the filmmakers to develope a style working together, and see how their locations and ideas look on screen. since they've been working on the film for a year we just thought it was worth posting
seriously, I'm through with this thread, so feel free to keep asking questions but I've already said enough.
good luck on your films
Mike-B
