No such thing as "The best film school" just, the best film school for you. And there probably isnt any of their stuff her, for the same reason that makes a major film school like UCLA what it is. Snobbyness. UCLA, NYU, FSU,USC, there is such heavy competition, such a cut throat attitude. Everyone is the best at what they do, and everyone else sucks. They are overally critical of eveyone elses works, but blind to their own flaws. Not all mind you. I have met cool, down to earth people from all of these schools, but the first type is fairly rampant. I try to be supportive of others, and no one is more critical of my work than me. Put out positive, get positive back. They do give me a laugh though. I recently showed my latest short to some students at FSU, while I was there visiting a bud. It was funny, some criticisims were valid, while others, and one in particular, seemed to just want to sound like they knew what they were talking about. To the one, who seemed to just want to use big words, I said, "Youv been waiting for weeks to use that word, havent you?" he turned red, others laughed. They were also amazed that I had made such a short. They said,"How did you make a 30 minute short?" I said, "I just did." They asked," How big was the crew?" I said, there were three of us, including the cast of two." "WHAT?!" They exclaimed, "How can you make a film like this with three people." "Because I had to, and my film is better for it." The general concensus was, that they all wished they could make a film like mine, but didnt have the faintest clue how. Ahh, gotta love that small film school, with the gret professors, who speak to you, as if your on their level, and, once having earned their respect, give you whatever you want. THAT, is a great film school. R. Michael McWhorter www.tizzyentertainment.8m.comAnd you shall know us by the trail of dead.

For the record, I was never saying that UCLA was the best film school(I don't think one exist) just that many many many people seem to think it is. Also, I was not saying that UCLA students had to submit their films to this site or any other, but from the cocky attitude that I've experienced from such a school, I would expect them to submit. Last, the first post was to get a conversation started, and it looks like it has started with a boom. I for one am at a small community college in Seattle Washington and it is probably the best film program in the state, and I was trying to see how others thought about big film schools. I am applying to Chapman and NYU in the next few weeks but I'm not even sure if I will go next year for sure for the fact that if I stay home, save my money and spend it on my productions, maybe I will get further...anyone agree?
