I've noticed a very steady decline in the amount of reviews for films on this site. The only reason I pay to have my films on here is so that others can see them and also critique them. I really do appreciate those that have reviewed them. The first film I submitted here on the site (Chiaroscuro) got a pretty good amount of reviews back in the day. (link below):

Lately however the decline has really set in, I have to tell you it's pretty disappointing.

I'm not sure how you all feel about this, but I've also noticed other films on the site go virtually unnoticed as well. Anyway, if you have a chance check out my latest film...well it's actually the trailer for the film (link below) but you'll get the idea for what it’s about. Have a wonderful day all.

I watched Blood-o-Ween and reviewed it a couple days ago, but I don't think the review has been posted. I liked it a lot - short and sweet. Didn't realize it was a trailer, though; I'd like to see the completed film.

As for the number of reviews per film, I couldn't be happier personally. I have one short which was posted just a few weeks ago, and it's already at 35 reviews. Another of mine has been here maybe a month longer and has 39, but the lower ratio is understandable because it's so long. The main reason I posted my first short here was to hear feedback from people I didn't know, and I think my hopes have been wholly satisfied in that respect.

But, I can see your point that there are a lot of films wanting for reviews. And I don't really know what can be done about this except offering hearty encouragement to site-frequenters to use the randomizer function and review all they can.

Well I just approved over 100 reviews. I've been a little out of it recently in terms of that and I apologize. It's been a crazy work week for me.

One feature that I do hope to implement soon is a "Reviews Needed" link to help boost films with a low amount of reviews.

Best Regards,

I think that'd be a great feature Chris.

I got good reviews on mine, but only 3! Seriously, some of the films on this site are beyond comprehension bad but some of us put up films that are of at least minimum watchable quality and don't even get a review.

I know there's more to it than that but at least the owner of this site has recognized the problem! Smile

I haven't been getting too many reviews on my film either (only 3). I suspect it's because nobody watches documentaries. Oh well.

You have 7 reviews now, Josh, as well as 4 stars, and you're well on your way to getting much more reviews than the typical documentary on this site gets. Quit whinin'.

I really think that those who have a rep for making good movies or those who have been on the site for awhile get the good reviews.

Harris makes some pretty dang good shorts. Everybody likes them. So once he posts one, everybody want sto watch it.

That's just one example, but part of this review process is a popularity game (BTW, I'm making a movie for a film festival and plan to submit it here afterwards, I'll let you all know when its ready).
