i cant get any of the films to download/play.
I click on the titles and then it go's to a screen saying downloading image, and just stays like that, i never see the film.
I realise i have a 56k modem and it will be quite slow, but ive left it for hours and nothing happens

Do you have Quicktime? I think the videos only play with it. BTW I'm also a 56ker

yeah, make sure quicktime is installed and up to date. millions of windows users don't trust, or don't know about quicktime. which is silly, cause its cross-platform and the best media player there is get yo'self some quicktime!

as a windows user, i like Quicktime. I like Windows Media Player. I don't like Realplayer. That thing is a nightmare.

Yes. Make sure you have the most recent version of Quicktime installed and then click on either modem version or broadband version...but with a modem they'll take a while to load unfortunately.

The first version of this site in 1998 used RealPlayer...shudder. It actually wasn't that bad then...streaming QTs wasn't really a viable option because there wasn't much broadband then at all.

in 1998, real player was a different story. it wasn't bloatware. it didn't take over the computer like it does today. i used to watch videos from the news in realplayer format and they always looked pretty good. however, quicktime has made great strides since then AND it doesn't completely take over everything.

Can you save the films to your hard drive to watch again or is it just the one off?

you can save them easily with a menu in the control strip if you have QuickTime pro... if you don't have the pro version ($20) you need to do 'view source' then search that for '.mov', find the string, copy the url and download it.
