quote: Seems more scientific that way. Otherwise it's just a bunch of short films with a vague connection.
that makes sense. Same script. This way everyone can see how other people handled the shots and scenes. TACO WAGON PRODUCTIONS© "They look like psychos? Is that what they look like? I think there should only be an idea for a film, as previously stated, rather than an already made script, because every filmmaker has different beliefs, personal philosophies, etc. So, if you got a script that totally went against what you believe, it would be pretty damn hard to go make it. The prompt should be something like, make a film about first love, or coming to terms with death, etc. (I know those are chessy but they're just off the top of my head). Then each Filmmaking team would have a certain amount of time to write and shoot. The films would then be judged on technical skills, quality of story & plot, direction, editing, all that.

That's a good point...where I got this idea is from this guy named Evan Mather, check out his website Here, "...filmmakers Evan Mather and Jason Wishnow recently travelled to Joshua Tree National Park - where it was 106 degrees in the shade - to film a couplet of faux tequila commercials. Using the same raw footage, each retreated to their individual coasts and created a 30-second spot promoting that fine Mexican drink." So anyway he and three other guys would go out and shoot a bunch of sh** for a fake commercial about Tequila...there was like 3 guys...and then each of the guys would take the footage and edit it...then after they were all done they would show eachother...all the same footage but all edited differently in different styles. Check it out. As far as this idea...I think if the films would be compared to see who did the best job their would have to be a master "script" By script I don't mean a "final" draft that MUST be on film...what I mean is it is just the basic layout of the film. OTherwise, like someone said, I'd be a bunch of films with vague refrences to eachother...I.E: The assignment is to make a film about suicide. Your gonna get a lot of random sh** outta that plot. The plot should be laid out but then the director or whatever should be allowed to write in his own dialogue, characters, settings, and lenghth of film. Ya know what I'm saying? This way the plot is all the same and they can be compared but eachone has its own shades of style from the filmmaker. TACO WAGON PRODUCTIONS© "They look like psychos? Is that what they look like?
