your idea reminds me of two movies, I can remember the names of neither. One is about a boy who decides he wants to go to school dressed as a girl. I see that one in video stores every now and then.

The other I saw on the SCI-FI Channel short film show, about an eccentric millionaire who pays a guy to wear gaudy bright green flower earings continuously for a month. If he keeps them on for a month he get funding for his movie. So he wears them, people call him gay, he keeps wearing them even though it alienates everyone around him. Then someone in his family dies and he has to wear them to a funeral, where he alienates and offends his entire family and his cousins beat him up after ward. Or something like that.

AAAAnyway, your idea has promise. One thing that I hope to be explored is why this fellow thinks that pants are holding him back. If it's just a magical decision meant to create a strange character then you have the beginnings of a nice short absurdist comedey piece. If you're trying to go further and make some sort of social commentary you're going to have to delve deeper into a justification of why a care-free individual should suddenly such a radical and difficult position.

All of the **** going on in the world has slowly been getting to Josh and he feels helpless. He is constantly reminded that the world is not at peace and that much is going wrong, and this has Josh feeling depressed. He needs to do something, if for no other reason than to feel better himself, but he is a 17 year old (its changed from a college student to a highschool student) living in Akron Ohio. He cant do a thing about any of the problems that concern him.
Josh's character has changed from a lazy, care-free slob to a teenager who is helpless but very much NOT apathetic.
Anyways, Josh decides that he CAN do something. It's not nearly as important as the other things Josh is concerned about, but he wants to do this. He has chosen to not wear pants. He's taking a stand.

Someone asked why a regular kid would choose to go such an irregular path as to not wear pants in public. I guess my answer to that would be this: Josh has slowly been going insane just thinking about all of the problems in the world, and the fact that he cant do **** about any of it just pushed him over the edge. Josh doesnt really even know why he's doing this; he just knows that he has to do something.

I really appreciate everyone's input. I've been working on the script these last few days and I plan to start filming in a week or so. I'll keep you posted. I'll definately be finished by the end of the summer, and I hope to submit it here soon after. Thanks
