I'm very appreciate the value of films on the site and really want to share experiences in film-making. But my problem is the method to submit my film. It would be months to transfer a package from Vietnam to USA and no guanranteed that it would be safe. And i think it would be same in Europe or Australia.

It would be more convienient when using FTP to upload direct to Studentfilms.com or maybe there're another ways to submit a film faster and safer ?

Thanks

Unfortunately the large file size required to submit to the site (Quicktime with the DV codec) is too large to upload to an ftp.

It would be in the hundreds of megs depending on the length of your film.

Mail is still the best.

In some ways, mail is the best. But may i suggest :

1. The file is large but you could show the film-maker way like you've done to make a smaller size. You could aslo have some conditions such as: the maximum size per minute, the format, the "Studentfims logo" (have it in a clip and require the submit-er inserting in their shorts). Of course they must pay to have an account to upload their films.

You've done very well in the "How to submit a film" section but it would be more convienient for you when the film-makers working on their own stuffs.

2. Here're some comparison:

SENDING BY MAIL

1. Filmmaker:

_ Have their short in a tape or CD and send by mail with unpredictable obstacles on the way.
_ Wait months to see their fims on the site. That's exhausted.

2. The Admin:

_ Examinate on each short.
_ Formatting and re-size.
_ Adding logo.
_ Uploading the files.

UPLOAD DIRECT TO THE SITE:

1. Filmmaker:

_ Complete their short at home with requirements then upload to the site.
_ After 24h or least, they'll see their work on the site. Very satisfied, that's for sure.

2. The Admin:

_ Examinate on each short and note the filmmaker if their shorts don't meet the requirements,

_ Remove invalid shorts after 24h. That's all !

In brief, mail is the best way for the filmmaker who don't have a realiable internet access (like broadband). Direct upload to site should be the faster and more convienient way for both filmmakers and the admins.

I would be very appreciate if you consider this.

Thank you.

In order to add the Studentfilms.com logo, compress the films using the site's settings, and achieve the quality control for the films on the site I need to compress the film on my end.

It may be a feature that I can add in the future...but it won't be for a while.

Thanks for understanding.
