Matt Gilbert's newest film is now up, called Real Gone Lover, and I...can't seem to put how I feel about this film into words. I've been struggling to analyze the film, to describe, elaborate, and organize my thoughts, but somehow, I just can't do it. I just can't sort through everything this film throws at you, and that's why I won't be reviewing it. And it's appropriate that I'm having this complicated reaction, because this is a film that is not meant to be analyzed. It's a film that is not meant to be picked apart piece by piece, it's a film that must always stand on its own. When you watch it, chances are you'll want to blurt out a loud "What the f**k?", but you just can't say it, because you know deep inside this isn't a film to understand or misunderstand completley. Sure, it's not as polarizing as Walk Among Us, but it still is a like-it or hate-it film experience, and I highly recommend everyone share the experience, because it certainly is a unique one that only someone of Matt Gilbert caliber can provide.
Whoa...just watched it and am searching for the words myself. Way out in left field; way out. I really really liked it and can't say why. The cinematography was a stunner, for sure. I'm going to write my review for it now)
