Hi there, Sam here with IV:XX. I've been a big fan of the site for a while and was considering submitting a few of my films. Unfortunately the A-motavtion has kept that from happening until now. It seems its a little late for a few of my films... Though they were made before the same-themed movie came out post-production took way to long and then I had to hurry up and fail school, but now its the summer and I got my films on track pretty fast. I LOVE this site and I look forward to the films ever week.
Now I don't want to throw up a film that people say "that was just like ______" Regardless of when it was made. Here are the 4 Films I would like to submit though I want to hear what you think of them because I would rather not have my work be trashed on and I would like to spare you all of another "look alike" They are:
1. Beep Street - Drama, Music Video - 6:37 Plot: A story of 2 friends that take there separate ways after a argument about the use of ecstasy at a party later that night. It then shows the story of the friend who chose to use the drug and the consequence of his actions. Story coincides with âBeep Streetâ form Square pusher
2. Mr. Jakornikov - Thriller, Dark Comedy- 9.55 Plot: A man is killed in a altercation with another individual. He is resurrected by a mentally unstable man who demands the man earns his life by surviving the hunt. Its a dark comedy in the sense that it is rather serious with outrageous parts in between. I canât give away the end of the movie but it made my dad laugh so hard he had to sit down and it made my girlfriend not talk to me for a week.
3. ELT - Comedy, Action - 5:25 Plot: Heh, well, ELT stands for Evil Left Testicle. A man discovers in the shower his left nut has plans to liberate himself from his fleshy prison then kill his capture. Again I canât give away alot of the movie to spoil it but I can say there is NO male parts in the movie and somehow it turned out decent.
4. Listotrippen (Listo-Trippinâ) - Experimental, Comedy - 6:50 Plot: On a beautiful saturday afternoon 2 friends look for a way to alter themselves chemically. With no more conventional drugs in the house the 2 take turns drinking a bottle of Listorene. The results are like something out of fear and loathing, the movie continues with there journey to get some Wendyâs. This is my pride and joy, I great deal of effort was put into making this and all the music is original (well heavily remixed Ayumi Hamasaki and James Taylor) The special effects are all very clean and I did not use effects I did not know how to use (some films on this site feature effects that subtract from the film because of their rushed appearance)
Let me know what you think and Iâll go from there. The question however is mainly focus at #2 which there are already 2 similar themed (and very well done) films on this site and #4 which I remember seeing something similar on this site.
Thank you

The testical one sounds kinda funny...your movei about the killer or whatever could be interesting. It doesn't matter if their is already a film on the website thats similar...thats gonna happen...plus look how many films out there deal with similar things already!
So...ya....submit 'em all. I look forward to watching them!

Wouldn't mind seeing those, the first one doesn't sound to appealing tho. LIke kyle said its just opinion, so submit em all, who knows maybe there is a big market for video number 1 on this site?
Few questions.. what kind of film background do you have, what kind of camera(s) did you use for your videos, and what kind of programs do u edit on and OS etc.
Tell us a bit about yourself!
Peace

Well my name is Sam. I've been into films since a very young age. My most recent film is Beep Street which was done for a health credit in school. I used to use my dads 14 year old camera to do stop motion videos. My first "Real Movie" I ever made was back in 95' Called "12 inch Wars" where 12" tall action figures faught each other. Eventually I got my own computer specifically for editing. Its a Flat screen Imac with 768mb of ram, 120gb drive (I added a 80gb external one) running 10.1.5 (I don't like the new "jaguar") As for film experience Last year I took at week long film making class at Cornell University where I also learned how to use Final Cut Pro. My favorite editing program is of course Final Cut Pro but I will use imovie if the only requires straight editing. I also use Adobe After Effects even though I will admit I only know how to do 4 real special effects with it. After buying the computer (Imac) and the 2 programs (Final Cut and After Effects) and buy a car (90' Supra) I had enough money for a Canon ZR-25 MC Which has been very good to me. Before July I will probably have a XL-1. Things I enjoy besides filming is cars (Lexus And Toyota) and Warhammer 40k (everyone has a little nerd in them) I'm not big on TV or video games. Hmmm I don't really know what else to say.

I'm 17 (forgot to mention that) Actually if I came off as wealthy then I am sorry, in fact that couldn't be farther from the truth. I saved up for 3 years to get the money for the Car and computer stuff. The class for cornell was a birthday present from my grandparents. I also started up a little business making plastic masks that look like warhammer 40k space marines which managed to bring in a little cash. Recently though I have been unemployed. Though thanks to a small government grant I have been working on a new project to produce new taillights for the Lexus GS series in the style of the Ultra rare (and expensive) Juntion Produce taillights (only avalible in japan) which (if becomes profitable) should pay for my camera... and my own GS300. But untill them I'm paying for gas in quarters and dimes...

That's what I like to hear...more struggling poor filmmakers like myself. Well at least your not alone now partner, when do you plan on submitting your films?

I'm going to submit them in the order twice a month. I'm doing that for 2 reasons: 1) The money for the submission fee and postage (I wasn't kidding when I said I pay for gas in change) and 2) so that people can have some time between films so they don't feel overloaded or begin to blend the characters toghter (Blake plays the main character roll in all 4 films)
So dates for Submission will be:
6/15 - Beep Street
6/29 - Mr. Jakornikov
7/13 - ELT
7/29 - Listotrippen
I am disapointed these films were made on the ZR25. I feel that they don't convey the story very well because of the picture quality.

He drank water a few scenes back, then 3 minutes later he had to take a piss... theres a shot of his back as hes pissing... then a gun shot and his dick explodes in blood then the rest of the film is him bleeding from his 'stump'
we had to reshoot that. I will warn you I try and keep my films short, this isn't drawn out like "the Game" or the other one, so its a fast pace.
