I'm leaving for Minneapolis on August 2nd to film a commercial for Babbages (actually, it's more for their magazine, Game Informer).
Here's my problem...the commercial is a parody of the Playstation Game "Metal Gear Solid". If you're familiar with the game, you know the main character, Solid Snake.
They sent me $300 to get the Solid Snake clothes. I have to get it pretty soon, and I have no idea where to start. If any of you guys are familiar with the character, and think you can help, let me know.

How the heck did you get that gig? Congrats either way, just wondering. As for "Snake" I think your best bet is to tart with some coverals. They make some for mechanics and such that look similar to what police, and SWAT wear. Make sure you have the right color (I seem to remember he had a a gray outfit, but double check.) Then simply accessorize. Gun houlsters, straps, stuff you should be able to find at army surplus, or police ubiform shops. Just get creatuive, and dont forget his rademark bandana. Good luck man, and keep us posted. R. M.

wow that seems difficult. The only thing I can suggest is try finding a Solid Snake action figure on eBay or something. This will give you a good 3-D repreasentation (sp?) of snake.
(interesting point - Hugh Jackman is going to play solid snake in an upcomming METAL GEAR SOLID movie)

I agree with Tizzy. Army Surplus stores are great for all kinds of great clothing and accessories. I've also seen stores that specialize in uniforms and/or workgear.

I got the job kind of in the same way I made the George Clinton thing happen. I just called the right people, pitched the idea, told them I did it for dirt cheap, then got the go-ahead. Basically, I'm making a documentary about videogames, and I'm getting it funded by doing this commercial for Game Informer. That way, I (A) get money for it, and (B) get access to a huge game magazine HQ for three days for some great footage for the documentary. I get my documentary, they get a cheap (yet quality) commercial. Win-win situation if you ask me.
Excelsior!!!

Clothes depend on which metal gear your parodying. as a gamer im sure you'll know his outfit is a little different in each one. Or why not include some of the jokes from the 'snake eater' trailer. "this is aint no grand theft auto" hehe.
Best thing like it was said above, is look on the net for pictures of snake, and go from there.. take em into an army surplus store and look around.
Good luck!
Hey i didnt know about the mgs movie with jackman, thats pretty cool. Where did you hear that?
Good work man. Pro active, thats what I like to see!!! Congrats. It is very deserved. Let this be a lesson to all, dont be afraid to ask. The worst that can happen is they say no. Keep us posted. R. Michael

Congrats man! I wish I could have pulled something like that. I have all these ideas for commercials for big companies, but I don't know how to make them happen.
Good luck!
