Oh man, I think we all can relate to that problem. When I made Poker Night, I invited about 18-20 people over to help, all of whom said yes. In the end, 8 (exactly the number of people that I needed) showed up.
That's basically the reason why I star in everything that I make. It's out of necessity. If student filmmaking has taught me nothing else, it has showed me that people are unreliable. God I hate people...
As much as I like filming stuff, sometimes lol (never thought id say this) they want to film too much. lol I was with a bunch of guys (Aroud Eight) of which only about three had been in "our" (My and another guy produce and direct everything, and a third guy helps out alot) movies before. Well we started filming at aroud 8:15 PM and stopped at 4:05 AM in the Morning about 6 Hours Non-stop filming and LOL since we were using a compact-s-vhs and didnt want to edit that night we only made about 12 Minutes of footage lol. And overall it was pretty good considering it was all in good fun. But then again what I, all directors make generally looks better to you then it does to others. Like I like the movies I do, but none of them are "complete" and by complete I mean actually pushing my/everyones abilities in making a short film. When I actually put one of my films on studentfilms Im hoping its at least 1/2 of my abilities.
I cant complain as much as others through since I do have a fair amount of available people for me movies and 4 of them are in advanced drama classs of some kind, two know some more of martial arts, and msot of us are more then willing to give up are weekends to film something.

As far as the drama becoming a comedy, this has happened to me. One film we were making invovled a guy hiring a hitman, but the hitman only has a small roll - like two scenes at 2 minutes all together - and my friend playing the hitman just screwed our movie up. Reason is he wasn't around during the rest of the filming, he didn't even know the plot! And since most of our movies were comedies he tried being funny - which didn't work.
There's actually alot of movies that I really love on this site, but I also have to say that "Takeback 2" is my favorite movie is well. If you look at the film reviews, me (Chandler Mays), Ian Simpson, Adam Scherer, and Chris Johnson, who are all members of 2am Productions, all have our lips planted permanantly to Stephen Reedy's ass. The movie is brilliant on so many levels. I watch the film atleast once a week.
Other movies I enjoyed included "The Aviator", which had the most surprising ending to a movie of all time. I almost sh*t myself with laughter when I saw it. "Angst Soap" was another very funny short. "Orphans" is probably the most beautifully shot movie on this site. I really like that movie. One movie that WOULD be my favorite on the site if it weren't for one reason is "Inherited Conspiracies". I think that's the title, but I'm talking about the film involving the uncovering of who assasinated Kennedy. That movie was amazing. The only thing that didn't make it my favorite is the main character looks like he's in second grade, and that kind of ruined the realism for me. But everyone should still see it because it's brilliant and very well-made.
There's my two cents.

I would have to honestly say that Midnight in a perfect world by Reedy has to be the best on here. He took a very simple story and made it unique and emotional and those kind of films are the best kind!
Hey, I'd like to say, my fav film on here is prolly Orphans, it's got great cinimatography and a pretty interesting story. And thanks Tyler I'm glad you like "Deep as a Coffee Mug".

Hmmm.... Well, my favorites are waffles, and some other one which I may have loved even more. I should ask brent, he would know. Or maybe not.... Oh well. Now I'm wondering why I can't remember it.
To all but one. To one but all. you know what's funny? Watching Brent fall!
Hey Andron you liked happiness is like helium filled potatoes. I have to agree this was a great film, but dude you would not shut up about it. So there you go my friend the forgoten film.
I've been thinking about it, and I think I was thinking of Berry and Jerrys' romantic evening. But I don't know if that's better then waffles. I think I'll watch waffles again.

Why is it that this Kubrick77sucks loser has no description under his name? He isn't classified as a member or a Junior member, and you can't see how many posts he has, and where he is from. And also, on the member list, everyone else's name is a blue link...his is white.
