should reviewing your own film be allowed? on somebody's film reviewing page, he reviewed his own film with a high rating. i dont know if this was to bring the average up or what, but it seems a bit unfair to me. I would like to see what other people thought of my film, with an honest rating. what do you all think?

Honestly, who cares?

It's not like this is a contest or something. There is no prize to be won. If he wants to review his own film, so be it. Even if it brings up his score, he knows the score is not completely legit.

I personally think it's a very cheap thing to do, but then again, in elections the canidates are allowed to vote for themselves.

I prefer to sit back and let other people review my films without their knowledge of my opinion on it, like the film I'm about to send in is a complete piece of crap, I only shot half of the script and it's all mixed up but I'm sending it in annyway. But rather than say this in a review I'm gunna see what people have to say about it.

shmoodles, u seem to be very interested in the rating/reviewing system, concerning that a good portion of your topic threads are about it.

just let it be. its the internet.

i think he was drawing reference to how ur kinda unconventional to this site cause u bring up topics that aren't normally thought to be important or talked about. I think it makes things diverse, u can bring up things on rating/reviewing system and I can continue to ***** about everything Big Grin

Sam You are by far in my opnion one of the worst filmakers on this site, I dont mean to sound to crtical, but your 2 films are 2 of the worst ive ever seen, your actors are complety horrible, and our directign skills are almost as bad, if not worse.

well its good to know that there's still a lot of supportive people in this world. Hmm, you're not one of them. this website should be about helping other filmmakers with your advice, etc. "rethink your career" is not good advice.

Sam.... You dont have a career
And that is my advice, choose something else.
There are alot of people who want to make movies who are not very good. I mean your films are hard to even sit through. There so horrible, anyone who thinks your films are a tad bit above decent, wouldnt know a good film if it came and bitt them in there ***.
Save yourself the humilation and GIVE UP KID.
I thogut Sudden Death was going to be a whole lot Better than Rebbeca. But it wasnt. It was a dissapointment.

And By The Way, im only supportive to people who's films are even decent enough to deserve it.

Oh please guys. No flaming.

First of all, this is a student film website. The films here are not meant to be masterpieces. Student filmmakers submit their film to the site so that they can learn from their mistakes.

Secondly, these films that you are bashing of his were done in High School.

You should have seen the films that I made in High School. They're horrible.

Now I'm an editor working in L.A. and editing music videos. Music videos that probably you've all seen. DVDs that you might have bought.

Rethink your career? No. This site is for people to learn.

"Rethink your career" is not advice that I want people to give eachother on this site.

In fact, reviews with such a comment never see the light of day on Studentfilms.com. They're not appropriate.

Best Regards,
Chris Wright

The key is "CONSTRUCTIVE" criticism. SF.com is about helping each other and being open to other opinions and views while being respectful of each other etc... Anyone can flame any film on this site, it takes alot to make a film and be willing to pay to have it put on this site and these filmmakers don't deserve such treatment. You didn't have to watch his film, didn't have to pay. The least you could do is ry and encourage growth and improvement instead of saying something as stupid as "Save yourself the humilation and GIVE UP KID." Your rights as a reviewer end when you break the rules of the site.
