Hi everyone, I just wanted to make this post to kinda defend the clip I sent into this site a couple weeks ago. It's called On The Horizon (http://www.studentfilms.com/film/get.do?id=848) Basically, I put it in the experimental category and called it a technical exercise because it's not really a short film. I just put it up because I thought it would be interesting to share with you guys what I'm up to because I'm interested in seeing what you guys are capable of.
I'm still developing my skills, and I call this a technical exercise because I'm trying out every aspect of the filmmaking process before I go out a spend a lot of time and effort (and $) to make a short film.
From the reviews it's gotten, I just think that in a way most people aren't seeing it the way I want and as the filmmaker I guess that's my fault but I'll just make it really clear here: this is not a short film or a movie, I think of it more of a moving-painting or something. I really respect the people who take the time and effort to put together a proper short film and I don't want anyone to think of this as a pretentious film that's supposed to be saying a lot or anything. You have to take it for what it is. It's a 1 minute tech. exercise and I think just because of that I shouldn't really be getting any criticisms or compliments.
I probably wouldn't be posting this if it weren`t so late at night because I don`t think the clip deserves me talking about it so much.
Also, for the people who liked the music, it`s Brian Eno.
Thanks if you`ve made it this far!

Kevin, very respectful and well worded post. I applaud you. I haven't seen the movie yet, so I will watch it right after this.
I do want to point out that you don't have to defend your movie; the people who don't understand it probably won't change their minds even if they DO read this. You know that of course, though
EDIT
I watched it and reviewed it. Personally I really liked it.
hey I really liked your movie (or clip I guess) I think it showed a lot of potential especially in the cinematography department (I loved the orange look). And like doughnut said, there are always going to be people who just don't get it (in every movie). Good luck, you're definitely on the right track to making something good.
eh, it's his money and he obviously wants people to see it and review it. Personally, I feel that the clip he sent in conveyed his talent more so than other filmmakers who produce short films with horrible stories (or in some cases, no stories). To me, Kevin's piece evoked a feeling with the way he produced the images, something obvious that a lot of filmmakers fail to do.
