Wow. Talk about fabricated reviews. Top ten? Give me a break. It's **** like this with the review system and people doing it just to get their movie higher raings that really pisses me off.

I was misunderstood. I did not mean to say that Craig himself made up the reviews. That I know is not the case. However, telling all of your family/friends to review it is just wrong. Obviously they are going to give all fives. Something like 10 revies alone over the course of one day, all straight 5's. That just disappoints me. I hate seeing mediocre films rise to the top over films like Hitch, THe Old Man who Cried Shark, etc., because of a MASSIVE amount of family/friend reviews. I hate to argue, but it's just not fair.
Ya he's right, Fred Jones isn't a terrible movie, but it's way too mediocre to deserve above a 3. Right now it has 4 and a half due to inflated reviews. There are just dozens of reviews with all fives or all fives and one or 2 fours, that isn't right. Either he's cheating or someone else is cheating for him. There are more worthy movies here.
WOW! I just noticed...that is just WRONG. The movie is not that bad, but it is not the type of movie that deserves to be anywhere near the top ten (sorry, but it's true - watch it). I think it's time to equilibrate some of those reviews. Definately some big-time cheating there...Florida-style.
I think basically, the film isnt horrible. Its average at best. I know for a fact that a majority of people at this site could have done a better job. also, being a huge ben folds fan myself, i find that the music video butchered the song, and tahts why i personally dont want it in the top 10

Mike, you're only defending Fred Jones because he's your friend and you know it. The movie had 50 reviews, most of which were unfairly high. If you don't honestly think someone submitted several fake reviews...well I don't think anyone can think that. The point is Fred Jones simply does not deserve that high a score and something very shady is going on.
Honestly Mike, if this were any other persons film (someone you didnt personally know), you would be on the offensive with us. I realize you're trying to defend your friend, but OPEN YOUR EYES. This film was 3 stars at best. And yes, I do think it's wrong to have family review films because its a cheap way to boost ratings.
Hell no. I cant sit back and read this. Keep your family out of the reviewing process, period. Leave that for a saturday afternoon where u pop your dvd in and watch it on tv, not this site. thats complete crap. why dont u suck it up and accept strong criticism from your peers, whether its good or bad, and whether u like it or not. thats why u submitted your films, correct? it was to have them valuated by your peers, not to get 5 stars so u can boast what u got on a website that doesnt mean anything in the real world.

You really are quite the freedom fighter.
Perhaps someday they will erect a statue in your honor, right next to statues of Ben Franklin, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Ghandi.
Seriously, though, I think at this point you have done more to turn people off from your viewpoint than convince people to agree with you.
It's one thing to have a viewpoint and fight for it, but you don't have to bring it up in every thread you participate in--especially unrelated threads.
I agreed with some of your argument at first, but now I just think you enjoy trying to cause strife on the boards.
You seem to be trying to bait people into anonymously bashing your films. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if it is you who is anonymously reviewing your own films, just so you can prove your point further on this board.
Anyway, this is my viewpoint, but I don't think I'm an army of one. I think everyone is sick of your whining.
This same issue came up with my film. Its hard for someone to put up a film they made and is dear to them on this site without telling their family to check it out and write a review saying what they thought. The flaw isnt in telling your family to write a review thats fine they arent breaking any rules, the flaw is in the system and if it can be abused like that then something should be chaned but dont get on someone's case for having their family review the film cause there aint nothin in the rules saying you cant do that. I agree that it is unfair that some mediocre films can make the top ten, but i dont agree in bashing people for having their familes review thier films because the systems is structured to accomodate that. By the way i dont know the filmmaker and i havent seen this film and dont intend to, sounds and looks stupid to me but its their point im arguing for.

By BS i didnt mean fake. I am not doubting that they were written by different and real people, although some of them could have. The entire purpose of this thread was to bring up the fact that one should not bring an excessive amount of family and friends into the reviewing system, as it is an unfair way to boost reviews. That is all.
The truth is with family and friends, you CAN'T get an honest review. Even if they thought it was garbage, they still would write a great review. I'm not saying it's wrong for family/friends to review films VOLUNTARILY, as a few of my friends did with my first film. However, I did not ask them to, they did it by choice. Asking people who you know closely and are likely to give 5/5 stars reviews is just wrong. It's the FARTHEST thing from honesty. I would have more sympathy if Craig did not personally ask these people to review his film.
not only that, but family members don't usually know anything better, they see one studentfilm by their kid and think its great, why? They haven't seen OTHERS!!!!!! So of course they're gonna say its good, they got nothing to compare it to!
About your friend going to the school library and telling people to watch his film, WHAT IS SO LOW ABOUT THAT? Thats actually a whole lot better than telling family!!!! At least you got kids who won't have a biased opinion like, "He's my son, I'm supposed to love him."
