Hey there all you filmmaker coterie I have a little dilemma and I need some advice.

I live in the Valley part of Los Angeles(like totally) and this sumemr my friends and I wanted to go all out and film a full length version of the Crucible. We have the people, the camera, the forest, the costumes and even a professional composer.... the only problem is we found out that to film at paramount ranch(which has lots of wooden houses and buildings left over from old sets) we would need to have an adult on site for EVERY minor every minute of the shooting.... that's not exactly possible for us. Do you know of any way or place that is more low key in the Los angeles county area where we could film indoor wooden type of house(or any other thing we could morph into a puritan style room)... if not how we could make one of our OWN rooms into this(i.e. as if creating a set) for a reasonably do-able price.... HELP me with ideas! thanks a bunch people....
btw if your looking to wanna BE in it then I would appreciate the help!

All my life I have been lucky- I wonder how long this streak will go and If it will make me famous *wink wink*

You are so lucky to live near a professional set, where you are ALLOWED to film. I have...a hicktown.

well.. i do admit i am lucky.. but unfortunately for HIGH school student film makers its not that beneficial.. cuz we're minors so the liability of a big company ownedd film ranch is not that helpful... and since its a big city...theres not many abandones houses and wooden old style homes.. one disadvantage.. I really want to move to chicago for college.. so many more opportunities i saw there when i visited

What exactly do you need? I mean, what should the environment look like? What props inside, ect? Its not just a little wood shed, is it? The more details, the better. Offer em up, and Ill see what i can do.

Wait, I don't understand. Are they saying if you have ten people you need ten adults?

basically i need a wooden type room or anything else that could be made to look late 1600 early 1700.. creativity is a good thing... i can probably provide all inside props.. I would be making it into most likely a little poor bedroom... as I said before I am willing to look into creative ideas for buildign a set if the idea seems liek it would work... and yes i would have to have a guardian for EACH minor to film there- its not good being one year short of an adult.. next year!

Rent a cabin for a couple of days...it'll cost ya money...but so will building a set. I'd recomment just renting a cabin somewhere up in the woods, (yes I realize you live in LA, so you'll need some transportation) A cabin would look more realistic anyways.

The "rent a cabin" idea isnt bad. It would probablly cost less then a set. You could maybe build a partial set (two walls, one corner) and cheat it to look like more (frame the camera so you dont see more, then changes perops around so it looks like this is a different corner of the room, ect.) You would just need a good bit of lumber, some paint, and a place to erect such a monstrosity.

Now, the Paramount ranch thing. So you need ana dult for each kid. How many kids do you need? I mean, how many will be in the scene? As for crew, use the adults! That would be a great opportunity, if it could be pulled off. Just something to consider. You might be able to sell adults on the "amazing, once in a life time opportunity." or... maybe not. Either way, good luck. Hope it works out.
