Yea, just wanted peoples opinions on this little piece I did a while back.I don't why but I have been sending in all these short films; I;ve made in my spare time by myself, but this one I think is better then my last one (just a feeling) anyway I feel wierd making a post every time I want some feedback on my films Big Grin But anyway, let me know what you think, thanks everyone
Oh yes, and I think another one of my films I did, that I made on a course will be up soon "Tangible Dream" and don't forget "Beyond" a collaboration project I did with my friend JP, when I went out to visit him in California will be up on June 13th; I think everyone will enjoy it.

Okay, I watched your movie, and I have a few things to say:

1. You didn't do that bad while acting, but I think you should have practiced some of those faces you made before you started filming.
2. I liked the music. I appreciate this film 3 times as much as I would have normally because you composed it.
3. The voice-overs were horrible. I could hear background noise, and a little buzz. You should get a nice mic and use that from now on. Also, in between different clips of voice-overs, fade the audio out and in. It will help out a lot.
4. I couldn't tell if this film had a message. It sounded like the guy speaking was trying to say something important, but I didn't believe it. I thought it sounded fake.
5. Those blue-ish shots. I like the idea of toning some of your clips a certain color, (preferably blue, for sadness and depression) but I also felt like you overdid it.

All in all, if you can't tell, I didn't really like this film. Maybe you can take some of your ideas and expand them for another movie. Spend a little more time on everything, and it will turn out a lot better.

Also what is this?! This was one of the reviews for Confessions:

quote:
Really enjoyed this documentary. Really liked the approach of having candid, journlistic-type footage mixed in with a story that was very cinematic. The black-and-white filter really added a lot. Also, loved the fact that you went that extra mile to do the sub-titles. That thick accent was really hard to understand...but we were all able to follow along. Most people would not have done that.. thanks a lot and double kudos to you! Loved the music, too!

Is this guy kidding? Documentary? Blank and white? Subtitles?! What is he talking about? If you haven't seen the movie, go watch it and then you'll know what I am talking about... Eek

heh I think that guy got sub-titles confused with voice overs... and he thought it was real. And well there was like 1 second of black and white at the beginning.... Eek But I didnt think there was an accent. Oh well........ why bother.....
I liked the film, good job man. I noticed the same problems that pyro pointed out, and i especially liked the original music. The acting seemed a little overdone though. He was just sitting in the chair making over exagerated frustration faces. Meh. It was emotional though, and very good.

I thought this was a good film for it's subject, very well made, however, why not develop this into a story. after his "confessions" why doesn't he apply for a job, look for a date, clash with his family. That would be a perfect introduction scene to a movie. I wanted more. I thought the acting was good and the jagged cuts of him sitting there was a good touch. And of course, I liked the blue tinted shots, and that shot with the mirror. i'm serious, this would be a perfect beggining, now, if possible, look for a middle and end. Big ups to Brooklyn.

Hey,
I'm suprised I got feedback, thanks everyone for the ideas of how I could improve... It happened as the spur of the moment thing, I had a lingering idea in my head, a litte bit of time in my hands (about 3 hours), so layed it all down (I got all the equipment) but I used a really old camera that has a bad mic, but I've got other sources, anyway I just started by using a spotlight and filming myself, it was all spontaneous, and then I recorded the audio for the "confessions" and the b-roll for what the confessions were (this was why some of the expressions I were making were not competely relevent to what I was saying Smile) So yeah, it was really a complete experiment. I have some films that I have made in the past, I have spent more time on; and are better, which I think I am going to send in, so look out for those; I don't want people to steer away from my movies that they see on here in the future, because they saw one of my old wierd experimental flick, I made by myself. When I work with a bunch of people it's easier. i.e. Deep As A Coffee Mug..... Anyway, ya felt I needed to post something, but thank you all for your feedback (except one guy who reviewed my film, just totally bashed and didn't give any explanation or constructive criticism)and keep looking at some of my future films (trust me they'll get better Wink)

There is a documentary on the site called "Confession" with subtitles and is b&w.

The date on the review is 11/12/02. It must have been added to the site wrong by my programmer.

One guy gave me one star for every category and didn't give me a reason why (kris kimlin) so...it kinda brought my ratings down a lot. But I don't want anyone to overlook it...

Hey...just because the guy is being honest doesn't mean you gotta go at him with an insult. Would you have liked Pyro to just say, "Hey, it was good...but work on a few parts" ???

How the fu ck would that help the director? Pyro pointed out things that made sense...he didn't insult the film one bit. So shuddup.
