I've been trying to do this for a few days but i fall short because i'm trying to figure it out all by myself because i can't find any tutorials on the subject (to violent i guess). Can anyone tell me how to make some CG blood animations using adobe premiere, photoshop, or after affects(after effects is impossible for me to figure out by the way i can't do anything using it). Or does anyone know of a tutorial that explains this? I've been able to do a few ametuer-ish blood animations using frames exported to photoshop, (simular to the method used for muzzle flashes) but i can't seem to get the timing right or make it look decent. Can anyone help me out? By the way these animations are for bullet hits(fake squibs since i don't have a pyrotechnics licens, and/or a lot of money to spare.)-thanks

hmm ... I would start by experimenting with particle playground in after effects, putting it in 3d space to match your shot. Probably a velocity canon. It is a rather advanced feature so if you're having trouble making heads or tails of the program, well, you might want to crack the manual or get a book.

I don't know of any tutorials on the subject. Maybe you could write one if you are successful.

all the best

The reason why you probably haven't found many tutorials is because making CG blood or particle effects almost always turns out terribly. Even if you put a lot of time into it, it's never going to look as good as a practical effect you could have achieved with $5 and an hour of prep work. You could possibly try animating it directly on the frames, like you described, but it jitters around. Particle effects in a decent 3D app would be the more "professional" choice, but you have to be an extremely skilled user to get reasonable results.

TOO LATE! I'm already extremely skilled, particle effects works great for it, just add in some motion blur.
