Hello, I'm sure you've seen this topic a thousand time. The reason why I'm posting this is because I stuck between these two. I'm gonna make a purchase really soon. I would like to compare the video quality of each camcorder. I know the DVX is awesome in vid quality, no question. I would jump on that, but its a bit expensive, and im wondering if the Gl2 can reproduce similar quality. If anyone has shot their movie with the gl2, please post the url. thanks!

"This can only end badly...."

Not trying to make this "One of those debates" just offering a few more points.

The DVX also has XLR jacks built in, so if quality external mics are your game (as they should be since bad sound can ruin an otherwise good movie) this is a great way to go.

The reality is the DVX has newer technology then the GL-2 simply because it's creation came later. The new XL2 may very well ahve features that surpass the DVX and the technology dance will start again. In the mean time, if you have the cash I would deffinently go with the DVX. I shot almost exclusivly with the XL1 before the DVX came out (also alot of Beta, and DV cams but the XL1 was my go to) but since owning my DVX, I wouldnt even consider using it. Good luck.

Ok, I have made my decision. I am going to with the Ag-dvx100A. I have seen the still grabs and shorts from dvxusers.com and I can't seem to stop thinking about the awesome video quality it has. I know films aren't suppose to be about how good it looks, but the content itself. But I can't help myself. I have done alot of research in learning about the cam, where to buy, and what to watch out for. I will purchase it at bhphoto. and for future dvx buyers, I will keep everyone posted about the transaction!

indeed. it's the cam i use for everything.

yep, that's my long, sad story. i bought my GL2 a couple years ago because it was cheaper than a DVX, used it for a year, then sold it for the 100A. i lost money in that transaction.

it's better to just save up and get what you really want, rather than buy what you can afford and regret it later. seriously.
