Well the dvx 100a has 3 important things the gl2 doesnt. 24p option cinegamma 16x9 squeeze mode.

"This can only end badly...." Not trying to make this "One of those debates" just offering a few more points. The DVX also has XLR jacks built in, so if quality external mics are your game (as they should be since bad sound can ruin an otherwise good movie) this is a great way to go. The reality is the DVX has newer technology then the GL-2 simply because it's creation came later. The new XL2 may very well ahve features that surpass the DVX and the technology dance will start again. In the mean time, if you have the cash I would deffinently go with the DVX. I shot almost exclusivly with the XL1 before the DVX came out (also alot of Beta, and DV cams but the XL1 was my go to) but since owning my DVX, I wouldnt even consider using it. Good luck. R.
