Hey everyone, long time no post. It's almost time for the production of a feature film I'm making. Written by Alex Whitmer, a new member of this site - we collaborated to get this kick ass movie idea onto paper in a shootable format. I'll post a quick synop, so you can get an idea of what it's about. I'll be shooting in the GTA, in Ontario - so if anyone is interested to audition or work as crew, either shoot me a PM or post back in this thread.

SYNOPSIS:

It is the one year anniversary of her father’s death. At constant odds with her world where books are burned, the internet is consolidated into the hands of an elite few, and an apathetic world is just along for the ride, Zoë searches for answers through voracious reading, and clandestine meetings at her father’s banned library. Her prize possession is her father’s journal, which she is certain hides a secret to understanding parallel universes, a concept she believes is societies only hope of survival.

After the library is torched, Zoë sets out on a mission to find those responsible, but soon discovers it is people closer to her than she thought, and is ready to give up the fight. When the journal is stolen, Zoë rebounds, and attacks with fearless fury those who betrayed her. She also learns her father’s death was not an accident.*

Thanks for looking! I'll keep posting back with progress.

Alright, I just had business cards printed and I intend to start looking for talent tomorrow. I'm primarily looking for older students, but I'm not too sure where to look. I found a bunch of numbers for acting academy's in Toronto and I intend to go to the Toronto Film School to see if I can speak with anyone there.

Anyone have any other ideas?

There are other forums that have casting call sections, but I find this to one of the best ...

craig's list, a worldwide ''find anything'' site, including talent. A number of producers come here looking for talent, screenplays, etc..

http://toronto.craigslist.org/tlg/

The above link is specific for Toronto.
There is also a Montreal link.

I also suggest you put together a simple website or blog about the film / production so potential actors / crew have something to see.

Thanks Alex. I use craigslist quite often and find freelance jobs there from time to time. The only thing is, I have some free time and I'd like to take the opportunity to do it the old fashion way - talent scouting. I'd just like to be a little personable. I know the internet's a huge resource, that I do plan on tapping into when it comes to extras and stuff like that, but I thought I might be able to do some recruiting this way as well.

Once the project gains more headway, I will be putting up a website dedicated to Fragments of Gold. For now, I'm having some work done on my production company's website and will work with that in terms of having information about auditions, etc on there.

Ok, wasn't sure. I'm finding there are still a lot of folks do not know about craig's list.

Keep me posted on your website. Can't wait to see it!!

Hey everyone! Great progress. I had put out a casting call on mandy.com over the weekend, but it wasn't approved until this morning. I got an overwhelming response! I never expected so many people to respond. Auditions will start hopefully next week, once I arrange a place. Any reccomendations for places to hold auditions?
