Alright. I just put the MA-300 Mic adapter for my GL2, which allows me to use a mic with XLR connections. I have the Azden SGM 1X shotgun mic. I noticed instantly that the MA-300 had to female XLR inputs, but each one was labeled L or R. When i attached the mic, the CLR cable only allowed me to plug into one jack at once. Therefor, i could either only get L or R sound. I don't know much about sound, but i KNOW this is NOT what i want. Do i need to buy an XLR cable that has a dual connection, so i could plug into L and R at once? or do i need just a new adapter? i was lookig at the beachtek one, but it costs just as much, and i don't want to just end up with the same problem! HELP!

I'm pretty sure the GL2 has a mono recording mode. There was another thread about this around here, and I think the solution he found was to buy an adapter wired for dual mono. Yeah, you generally don't want just left or right sound, but in post it really doesn't matter. Just apply the fill left or fill right effect (that's in premiere) to get the sound to both sides. I'm sure there's equivalent procedures in other editing systems.
I just wanted to ask this (so I don't get screwed when I buy this behemoth): I have a Pvgs-200 which has a 1/8 mini jack. I want to get the AT 897 shotgun mic which uses an XLR out put (not sure if it's one or two) Anyway I was planning on buying the shotgun mic, boom pole, shockmount, 50 ft. XLR cable which would go from the shotgun mic to this adapter. Would this setup work ok, or will I have to get one of those Beachtek adapters?
