Hey, i'm beginning to contimplate a short of robbery type thing. Anyway, i would really like to feature a character shooting, smashing or in some otherway destroying a security camera. I was thinking to put the cammera on a green screen, blow it up or something, filmed on a close shot and then use it a few times on different walls in the movie. Few issues, i don't know were to get a security camera, and if i did i definately cant aford to buy it and break it. So, any really cheap ones out there... If not any model making ideas.... Also, how do blow it up and look like a gun shot?

my suggestion is get someone thats into arts and crafts and get some foam board. Make the security camera and just put a piece of glass for the lens. Paint it appropriatly. Now it should look like a camera (they arent horribbly complex loooking, so it should be easy). After that get a pretty heavy duty fire cracker or something. Put that inside it and - BOOM. The foam will give easily and should make a pretty cool break. Good luck

Possibly, but you may want to make it out of balsa wood. Either would work fine I'm sure. Anyway, make sure you score the material so that it will break easiaer, and you'll have more control over how it explodes. I would suggest putting some talcum powder or flour on the prop camera so that when it explodes, it will create the illusion of smoke, and make the explosion seem more powerful...
i was in some "whacky crap" type store in Los Angeles the other day, and they had this plastic security camera that was a fake. it was about 10 bux. it was hte plastic housing and a redlight, the whole deal swiveled left and right. Heres an example, although its not the same as the one i saw
Go to the neatest Good Will and check and see if they have one there they are always cheap, or just go to a junk store and look for one that are already broken.

At radio shack I saw a fake security camera. it is meant to trick robbers into thinking that it is really recording, but its just a hunk of plastic with a battery operated flashing red light. Not sure on the actual price, but probably super cheap.
