Have you looked the cameras up for information??? Maybe search in google??? Since they are expensive cameras I would assume they would not have many problems. I would say it MUST be a very good camera, considering its about 2-3 thousand dollars and a camera I wish I had the money for instead of my canon zr65:-/..

heres a link.
click it if you want???

try $4300.

Yes they are good, the XL2 shoots 24p, same style as the DVX. Theres a bunch of movies on here shot with a DVX100, including my stuff, but i do not know of anything in particular shot on an XL2 yet.

I know you are new to this stuff, i've seen a lot of your recent posts, so heres what i'll say. The prosumer camcorder industry in the last few years has been having a huge annual changeover, and new technology is taking large strides each and every year. I dont think you would utilize the full potential of this camera until there was already something else you should have bought instead. Seriously, you might regret it, especially with all of the HD offerings starting to trickle into the arena.

I would get a cheaper camcorder (like even sub $500 for starters), save your money, focus on learning composition, editing, writing, directing, audio if you find a cam that allows for an external mic (highly recommended), and when you feel you've outgrown that, THEN go drop a few grand on a high end cam, and you'll have something better than the XL2 - guaranteed. Three years from now if you have a dvx or an xl2, you'll regret not having HDV or DVCProHD capability. SD isnt going to die anytime soon, but HD will be a lot more prevalent for sure.

Best of luck.

perfectly summarized by Jeff. It will be more beneficial to wait, and hone your skills before upgrading at an unnessecary stage. I had an XL1 for 8 months, and the camera is great sure, but I have been producing independent films for nearly 6 years now, and only recently (past year) has the XL1 seemed superior.
