I need help picking a new mic.

But there is a tricky dealy...

I'm also in a band, and would like to use that as our vocal mic.

To sum up, I need a mic that could double both for film and music on-stange needs.

Thank you.

It's not going to be easy to find a mic that serves both purposes. You need to understand that mics are designed for pretty specific needs, and a film-use mic and a vocal mic are two very different needs.

more specifically - you would want a condenser mic for video and a dynamic mic for live vocals. Theres really no two ways about that. Condensers are generally used for recording vocals only. If you are trying to save money, then spend the cash on a shotgun and by a cheap dymanic vocal mic for live vox.

I agree with jeff, to be honest with you, i would not even try to do it. I would buy 2 mics, a shotgun for video/film productions and a dynamic for live vocals.
