Hi,

Crazy question. I'm shooting a film and at one point this guy is shooting at an animal (this is slapstick comedy mind you) and he shoots over a bush and we see stuffing shoot out the side of the bush. Y'know just cotton stuffing that you'd use in a pillow.

What could I use to achieve this effect? How can I "shoot it out" if you will...

Thanks,

Bobby Miller

try the vacuum effect. Ive never done it but i heard if you stuff the vacuum with whatever you want. Then put the vacuum in reverse with something clogging the whole. When the pressure is just right, take the clogg out and it hte cotton should shoot out the way you want.

By the way, bobby, do you live in NJ. I know a bobby miller who makes slap-stick films like the one your talkin' bout. Just a hunch i guess.

You could try building a PVC cannon and stuffing it in the bushes. Basically, you get some PVC pipe, put a cap on one end, Then you have to make an igniter of some kind (this I don't know how to do), then you have to stuff some ammo in it relatively tight, but not so tight that the pressure can't force it out (then your in trouble). I'd advise that you get some real instructions off of the internet if you want to make one since I personally have only fired them (never built one). Also, I don't know how big you want it to be, all of them that I've seen have been pretty large.

Make a potato canon, just make a small mortar like one, get some PVC pipe and also you need a like a PVC pipe champewr I have no clue what you call it but it is bigger than the tube and has a twist off bottom. Then you need a spark plug with a button switch assembled to it. Put the cotton in the barrel then spray some hair spray or WD40 into the chamber close the bottom tight and press the button to the spark plug then boom! If that doesnt work get someone to just throw the cotton out of the bush.
