i have those headphones, they work great listening to music, clear and great noise canceling, but when hooked up to my camera it makes a buzzing sound, anyone know why or how to fix that?
If you are putting the headphones input into the AV input....it won't work. You need a headphone jack.

All you're doing is taking the signal power that's usually used to play it on a TV and using it to power the headphones. The buzzing you hear is the video signal going to your headphones. If you can send a video and audio signal to a TV, you can use headphones on your camera.
The pinout of the AV output does not match that of a headset. The video output is pinned to the L (or right, i can't remember) input on the headphone jack. This is so any standard 1/8" to RCA cable can be used to display something on a TV. Pulling the headphone jack out a little disconnects the video pin but leaves one channel on the headset on the audio.
What Parnell's referring to is the capability of the camera to actually reconfigure the output of the AV jack so both channels line up with the headphones. He's saying it might be in the camera somewhere.
Funkbomb, It isnt alligning the jacks, the GS400, what i have, and a few of the higher range consumer cameras (particuallarly canon and panasonics) the jacks can be set so they are a headphone, with the output levels needed to for headphones etc.
HSJ check your manual to see if it can be done. Sonys as of late have been making cameras with mic inputs but no headphone output options.

I have a Panasonic and in my menu, it has the option to either output AV or output AV/phones. If you don't set it to AV/phones all there is is a terrible squeal in the ears. Check your manual. This might be the case.
