What kind of shooting ratio do yall use for 16mm? I have 5 100' rolls for a short film that will end up as 3 minutes. Accounting for pre-roll, loading loss and everything else that is only a 4:1 ratio.

Do you think that is enough?

That should be plenty of film. I squeezed an eight minute film from four 100' loads.

Even on my twenty minute sync sound film over the summer, the ratio was not 4:1 - it was a little less than 3:1 (twenty minutes from about 55 minutes of footage).

PS - there is extra length for loading and unloading. Actual length is approximately 105'-110.

I've managed 1:1 and been totally happy so far... it's all in rehearsing. Fingers crossed.

True 1:1 is impossible unless you leave in the start/stop frames...

I was referring to the take ratio. I have yet to complete the editing on any of my projects, but I'd estimate the actual usage ratio to be about 80%
