I'm looking for a good camera for my first year of film school. I'm gonna use all the school stuff, but I still want my own camera to do something on the side. I really don't have enough money to go with a 3ccd camera, and am curious as to if there are any really good single ccd ones? My big worry is audio though, is there any single ccd cams that allow me to attach mics or anything, since in camera mics often suck? Can anyone help me out, I'm from Canada and I'm only able to spend a max of around 2000, if that. -Starbuck
Seeing as you can find new Gl-2's for roughly $2,000 U.S. I'm pretty sure you could find someone willing to part with a used GL-1 for $2,000 Cdn. You could also look for other used 3ccd models. I know this might carry some degree of risk but that's what I would do.
Good luck!

yes i got a good DV camera brand new in a sale last summer at a Panasonic shop, that you can plug in a mic to - tho i hardly ever need to as the inbuilt mic has a lot of good effects. It cost me the equivilent of about $700 in USdollars.

Oh and avoid a single ccd, you may as well get hi 8 or vhsc...if your gonna spend the bucks, do the 3 ccd and make sure it has an xlr in for mics and not a 1/4"
