I've been looking at the Rode VideoMic to improve the sound in my movies. I've heard great reviews for it as the best quality for the lowest price ($150).
I was just wondering if buying the windmuff for the extra $60 would be worth it for outdoor shooting?
Any suggestions or recommendations about the mic, the advantage of the windmuff, or if maybe there is a low cost alternative to the windmuff that would work just as well?

I own a Rode NTG-2 shotgun, which i use both on my camera and on a boom. The DeatCat is definitly worth the money. The foam in the breeze is fine, but in anything more windy the Deadcat handles really well. With the cat you loose a bit of sound definition(becomes a bit muddy), but its better than a wind filled track.
