I've got this photo camera for my birthday (happy birthday to me) and I discovered it had the option of making small soundless videoclips. (Ideal for music vids) The thing is. One computer in my house - the only one with enough room to use the editing program - doesn't have the codecs and drivers to view the avi's from the camera output.

And of course, the required software can't be downloaded automatically. Any idea on how to solve this?

(More info is available on request)

Thanks in advance,

Stijn Hommes

ok wait, so let me get this straight.. the reason you want these clips for your music video is because they are "soundless"? But do you have a real video camera too? Why not just take the sound from the video camera clips out in post? Or is this actually the only camera you have...

I would think that this is the only camera he has...

But then again he just might have no clue about what hes doing....

Yep, the only camera I've got.
In music vids you put in the music in post production as far as I know. Wouldn't it be great to not have sound on the original track?
OK, so synchronizing could be a problem, but it's the only thing I've got.

Now how do I get my computer to read those AVI files downloaded from the other computer attached to the camera. (DivX doesn't help)

Sell the camera you have and buy a video camera. It would be a lot easier. I don't know of any other way, considering I know nothing about AVI's.

Yes it would be great. but you dont have to have your camera to have no sound. Any video clip can have that sound taken off in most editing programs. And yes, music is added to music videos in post. Sorry I dont know of anything that accepts your cameras clips. Do as advised above and get a real video camera, and take the sound out in post.
