Hello there,
I was given the task of filiming a 30 sec commercial for the first time an upcoming open mic event.

Tech Setup: 2 camera setup tight and wide shots
The concept : the talent will recite a poem to encourage partiicipation
The End result(editing): inspired by the old apple switch campaign a few years ago take a look http://pulsar.esm.psu.edu/Faculty/Gray/graphics/movies/damonwright_m480.mov

The Question: For a seamless edit later on..... For every take, do I have the talent recite the entire lines of the poem or a few lines at a time?

For those shoots I'm guessing they either use multiple cameras rolling at once, or a high res camera and zoom in during editing.

As I'm guessing you don't have these choices, I'd say, go for the whole line during each take. This way, you have more to work with, and the actor's performance will be more fluid.

Actually, just use one camera and shoot the whole thing beginning to end a number of times.
