This problem is a bit lengthy, but if you could please take time to read it I'd greatly appreciate it
I was wondering if someone could help me with a problem I'm having with lighting. We have to make a 3min short film for one of my classes in a group. But firstly we all need to individually write our own script etc. Then we have to persent it saying what techniques we'd use etc. If the idea gets picked you get to make it with 2 other people...fun and hard work hehe.
Anyway, my question is this. In one of my scenes Im filming in this grafittied concrete tunnel near my uni. Now Im sure that if I stick enough red heads down there then Ill have suffiecient lighting, however, in one of my shots I want to have the tunnel lit up but my main character in the foreground as a sillouette.
I was thinking of either putting a light down one end and upping the iris on i, or putting a sheet oever it to diffuse the light. But I experimented with both of these and they really didnt seem to work. does anyone have a suggestion?
Cheers

If the character is supposed to be silhouetted against the outside, and not the wall, just do it during the day. You'll need as little electric light inside as possible, and you'll want to open the iris all the way. If you want to silhouette your actor against the tunnel wall, you need tons of light on it.
