I knew you would have the 411 on this cam Rob, but what ive read so far has me drooling. Just wondering what your thoughts are.

This cam claims to have more than 4 times the resolution of H.D., and looks beautiful. Here is the link

It's tight, but they don't even say how much it costs, just rental...

God, it must be hella expensive to even rent.

Buzz about this thing since NAB is less enthusiastic than the buzz before. I don't think they've released any images to la gente yet, it's still basically a prototype. There's some concern about the bayer-pattern CCD actually delivering the resolution it claims. One person speculated that it's "Marketing pseudo-science." The advantage of using the single bayer CCD over a 3 chip design, though, is that it then becomes instantly compatible with normal 35mm film lenses.

The other problem is that hard-discs are going to have to get way cheaper before it becomes a cost-effective option to 35mm (Which it IS designed to be). Not to mention post production will be a nightmare (The image has to be de-mosaiced and color correction will be essential, like with the Viper Filmstream).

All things considered it does seem that it'll kick the living crap out of any other video camera as far as image quality goes.
