Im in pre-production of a video year book for my school, and we want the video to be thru the eyes of the highschool student but we dont know how to give it the 1st person feel and not feel cheapo like were holding a cam;

like we want to give it a real feel as if the camera is seeing what your eyes see.

any suggestions?

Probably will have to do this kind of shot with CG. I don't know much about CG so someone else will have to fill in the rest. Best of luck!

Ladies and gentlemen...today we have dean martin and jerry lewis going to camp with us...Jerry tells the jokes, dean sings the songs and gets the girls...lets have a big round of applause!~~~Remember The Titans

well...i always use the shutter effect when i want to do a 1st person scene out of a drunk man's eyes. It makes it look wobbily, and shaky. There is three types of the effect (not too shaky, medium skaky, and extreme shaky, that was a weird way of putting it).

first person view isn't supposed to be shaky? When you, yourself, look at something when you're walking or turning, does it shake? No. It's all a smooth motion.

umm...yes it does. Our minds compensate for the up and down movement of walking. It wouldnt look natural unless there was some movement. If you used a track it wont look natural because it is too smooth. Try a glide cam, that way the cam can still move but more balanced, not shaky cam.

theres a shot in goodfellas where all the mob guys are introduced and its in the point of view of ray liotta. that shot is really smooth and works great, mostly because of the interaction of all the characters with the camera.

if youre looking for a witty signature, youre looking in the wrong place.

i know the shot you're talking about, and they go up and down stairs within the club dont they? i think that was a glide cam shot actually. I think the key to making it work is turning the camera like it is a persons head and keeping the height consistent, unless the character bends down.

by the way, i think having the persons arms do things within the frame would be beneficial, like opening doors.
