Ikonoskop has announced the A-Cam, the smallest, lightest and most affordable Super 16 film camera in the world.

The A-CAM will have a European Release at the OneDotZero festival at The Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) in London on 18-23 May Daily 1PM-8PM. That will the first opportunity to see and experience A-Cam. The founders Göran Olsson and Daniel Jonsäter will be there.

2 minutes 46 seconds and 16 frames.

They announced this thing a while ago, but it's nice to see it's actually about to hit the market. It has limited application, but it looks pretty fun all the same.

$4,000 for that? No thanks, I'll buy a used Arriflex IIC thankyouverymuch. It's not even SLR!

If it does run at exactly 24fps, then technically it doesn't NEED to record sound, because sync-up will not be a problem.

One can't really compare this to a II-C. It's essentially a docco-cam for when you're running around the 3rd world trying not to draw attention to yourself, but still want to blow-up to 35mm. Sure the parallax VF sucks, but crash cams and run 'n gun cams like this are rarely used for close-up work.
