my birthday is coming up and my parents are helping me look at cameras. what would yall recomend for around $2,000? i am assuming the canon gl2 would be the best buy but where would be the best place to get it? also any other cameras you would recomend over the gl2? i am looking for something so i can film shorts, a tv sitcom type show for my college channel, as well as bands and maybe weddings.

If you can get a budget just over that, try to get a DVX100a. Otherwise, I'd have to agree with your decision.
