For those of you that have lots of experience with the Canon Gl2 or Xl2's, did you find them to be very delicate cameras in comparison to panasonic's dvx100?

I've handled both. They're all well-built cameras, just about the same. If I were the nitpick the DVX100 is probably a bit sturdier, but I had my GL2 for a year and it held up to everything I threw at it.

My friend dropped a Panasonic DVX100a from about 2 feet onto a carpeted surface, and it was in the shop for months (partially because of warantee disputes, but still...)

On the flip side, I've banged the XL-2 into more than a few doors and haven't had a problem.

Actors? What actors?

My XL2 has been manhandled by numerous DPs for well over a year and it's still fine, however the caseing is starting to become uncased.

I've had limited exposure to the Panasonic DVX100 and from what I can tell it's about the same.
