I am new to the forums, and really a beginner at everything video. I"m facinated, and the forums have been really helpful. Anyway, anyone have good, cheap, household tricks for bullet impacts on: people, cement, dirt, trees, buildings...

Anything for indoors that can easily be cleaned?

Thanks for the help

One of those links leads to a post that talks about a software called AlamDV. It is a program designed for adding special effects to your movie for a low cost. When I purchased the software, I payed 86 bucks, and I hate it. I used to visit their forums, until I realized that about 9,950 people out of the 10,000 people on there didn't know anything. That's why I came here.

So if you want, check out AlamDV, but look around a lot first, because my guess is you will be disappointed if you buy it. But maybe the reason I don't like it is because I'm not really into special effects.

Yeah, I also hate their forums. They're completely... well... you can figure that out. I also own the software, but surprisingly don't use it very often as pgPyro said. Check it out for yourslef if you'd like...

I couldn't agree with you more. The films there are horrible. I am trying to watch Unlucky, but it keeps freezing up at a certain point...

The only reason I would ever want to purchase that stuff is for the gunshot FX...but considering I don't need that....I don't need it. You can do the same thing with photoshop...and photoshop is much better. I don't need to be able to make a lightsaber look real...or have lighting bolts...that's stupid. And like I said..if you watch the films on AlmDV you'll notice they all OVERUSE everyone of the special FX in the program...it gets a little ridiculous. It's like a little kid with a box of crayons...and he feels the need to use EVERY crayon to color a picture of a tree.

All I have to say is AlamDV is the way to go. So many plugins and very cheap and if I'm right its around $80 US and AlamDV 3 and Chromanator (bluescreen program) come out very soon. Check out AlamDV at http://www.alamdv.com and if that site doesnt work than that mean there new one is up at http://www.FXhome.com Good luck!

Are you kidding? The way to go? The program is pointless, except for about 2 of their plugins. I like the muzzle flashes and the explosions. I could never use the explosions, though, because they all FADE OUT. Fire does not FADE OUT. 80 bucks for muzzle flashes? No thanks. Mad

I've seen some of the sh**** films on AlamDV...I've seen the ones with flying saucers shooting at a running guy leaving the "FADING" explosions. The fade thing isn't the issue...the actuall "explosion" looks fake as a mother!

RESPONSE TO micfields2000:

Do you have video editor & photoshop? If you do that's all you need. You simply grab a frame from the footage you have, transfer it to photoshop and "draw" in a muzzle flash. It's EXTREMELY simple. Also...you asked about richochetts off the ground and such. That can be added by using photoshop as well. BMWfilms.com has some shorts made by big money directors...and in their films they added the richochetts post production.

For a good expample of muzzle shots in action...watch this movie : Vendetta: A Christmas Story

Funny movie, and you can learn from it...not as in a moral...but inspiration to make a short film.
