I remember in a recent post that someone was in need of a good gun sound effect, and someone recommended half life's gun sound effects. Where would one go to find that? I have already tried recording it via microphone to speaker but got poor quality. Does anybody know how or where you get the sounds? Any help appreciated.

I dont know about the halflife soundeffect but SOUNDDOGS.com has a ton of different gun sounds. They are a pay site but you can download free (lower quality) mp3 versions.

I'm not sure about Half-Life, but I'm pretty sure that most games have a directory on the cd where it has the wavs (or whatever filetype) of the sound effects. That'd mean you'd have to go buy the game, or else borrow it from a friend, unless of course you already have it.

Heliotrope is right. When you install the CD. It creates directories that the game need throughout your hard drive. I don't have a PC but let's see if I can remember where Half-Life puts the sound FX (There are hundreds).

Try going to /Program Files/Half-Life/Sounds or something like that. It's in there somewhere. There are all these folders that it has organized such as weasposn, enemys etc. Good Luck!

Anytime. If you want me too I can send you the gun sounds from it, just in case you don't have it or something.

I could only find 6 sounds, not quite sure why, I'll look through the other directories later, but for now I'll send you both those six.

Hey Bruce, I found a great website with sounds. He's a member on this site, but I haven't seen him for a long time.
www.jushhome.com

go to his sound bunker. All the files are zipped so you'll need to, well, unzip 'em.
