I bought a digital voice recorder that takes an external mic and holds like 2 hours of voice. I used a pretty good shotgun mic and had 15 pages of V/O recorded, downloaded to the computer and it sounded like crap. Nothing I could do (in my limited knowledge base!) could fix the sound. I had to re-record. I'm sure there are different levels of recorders and maybe the person I gave the recorder to was in a bad-accoustics room, but I doubt I'll try that again! Just my experience. Maybe others have had success. I bought a downloadable sound recording program for $99, a very good studio mic for $99 and can now do ADR directly to my computer as a wav file and the quality is EXCELLENT. I'm at work right now and don't have the links or name of the program, but when I get home tonight I'll post it. Good luck.
